Looking to sell, but not sure the value:
71 Polara Custom all original. 1 owner. Factory 383HP. I have the original title and the build sheet is still in the back seat. Turns over but have not put in time to get it started. Has been in a garage since '99. Needs work but a solid car.

My advice to you would be to get the car running as non-runners do not generate much excitement. On the bright side the car appears to be solid, so it is a good start as a project auto. On the down side it is a low optioned car that will need a complete brake and fuel system rebuild. This market of vintage cars has gotten all screwy because of the covid-19 situation and I suspect that as a non runner, you will have a hard time selling this car at over $1k. I am sure that others will comment.

If I had the money, time, room, I'd buy this. I'm almost certain this is a special order Washington State Police car. Broadcast sheet shows Left Spotlight and Light Reinforced Roof.

Pretty sure WSP was still running 440's in '71 and would expect it to have A/C. Could be a county car though. Interesting to see the build tag and if the 140mph speedo is in place. WSP did run a lot of blue interiors

Its there ....

I assumed a state car because I believe usually only large agencies ordered DL, DM, PL or PM instead of DK or PK cars.

Sorry, my OCD has kicked in. This is from the WSP website, they screwed up the date but this is a better pic with the light bar. Interesting paragraph about the driving course. I knew Michigan was known for their driving course, I didn't know WSP had a high end course as well.

I agree with this, I'm selling a 66 charger project, not a ton of excitement, everyone ask "does it run" I'm gonna get it running, and relist, for more money..

I respectfully differ on getting the engine running: given that it turns, I prefer to get it running when under my ownership.

I've said that for years. Don't wash it, don't change the plugs wires hoses or gas in the tank. Leave the flat tires, the blankets on the seat and the rat **** on the door handle.
How much?

@amazinblue82 Can you shed any light? Is your 71 WSP a DL or DK?

1971 Dodge Polara Police Car

my car is DL41U1D

the OP car looks like it has unsilenced aircleaner propping open the hood, and full horn ring steering wheel.

that plus the reading of the the broadcast sheet shows some "fleet" heritage of some sort. I cannot determine which.

let us know the skinny polara71 if you dont act on it. good luck man.
