Just took off my pump, do these parts look good? Also the little notch on ck valve does it make a differance which way it points when going back in? Some were saying sometimes pump is hard to get out of block, mine fell off. Is that normal? Feed back please. going to pack it with petroleum jelly, new oil filter filled and hope for the best!

Can you feel any of those scratches with your nail? They do look deep

This was the car with no oil pressure right? I’d replace that pump if this car is a keeper. But try it again.

You don’t need to pack it with anything just put some oil on the moving parts.

Your parts look used, some wear, no real problems.

The valve has some wear on it. This valve can hang up in the bore and you’ll have no oil pressure. The valve has 3 notches, the rotation doesn’t matter.

Still your best bet is priming this engine with a drill, no engine wear will occur if the pump won’t build pressure.

Was the spring behind the valve?

The valve then spring then cap. Will try priming, may end up replacing it. Was going to rebuild engine, just not yet.

I personally would replace this pump, it is showing moderate wear, but since it would not prime, it probably has excessive end play that kept it from sucking up the oil to prime itself. The pump needs to form a vacuum to do that. When the tolerances go south it won't develop enough vacuum to prime. It is going to do the same thing the next time the engine sits for any length of time.

Where would be a good place to get correct chrysler pump?

Are they direct replacement? Shafts interchangable?
Yes. If you elect to go with a high volume unit or a (high pressure unit not advised), you should consider a high tensile replacement intermediate shaft. For a stock Melling pump it is a direct bolt on with no mod needed.

Reman off ebay with sane chrysler pt#, yea or neah.

I usually do not fool around with rebuilt pumps because the might be full of crapola China crap. Melling is a US company and is noted for high quality and for about $30 difference I am not going to take a leap of faith on a Reman pump.

Thanks! Thats what i wanted to here.

No matter where you get it, take it apart and clean. I've found junk in all of them

It will need to come apart anyway to pack it with petroleum jelly, a lot of these pumps pick up bits of packaging material from being moved and shipped.
