I have been looking for a timing light for a while, particularly an older one, because a lot of the newer ones are not only flimsy but the light is often not bright enough. Today I came across a Sunpro CP7504 that looks prob like it was made in the 80s. 1, has anyone used this model and would you recommend or not, and 2, if not do you have one you could recommend? Please, nothing made in China, I am sick of this trash.

Thanks.

Haven't needed to look, as I bought my dial-back timing light back when "Sears Craftsman" was a good brand, probably in the earlier '80s. In the current times, I suspect many have the same or similar "guts", with the cases being different. Not sure why the "light" would be less dim than in the past?

Whatever one you get, might inquire as to their warranty and how to execute any warranty claims. Should the illumination not be "to specs", for example. Plus their "Return Policy". In this case, "where purchased" might be more important than the brand itself? You might pay a bit more from a local auto supply chain (with a name brand) than an online seller, but being able to physically take it back might well compensate for a slightly higher price to get it locally.

Just some thoughts,

The SunPro line was sold by Sears and was made by a company called Actron. Those timing lights used to be made here and were a pretty good unit in their day. Do not know if that is still the case as Sears these days mostly sells China Crap. Most of the shop timing lights were made by Sun Electronics and were part of the diagnostic machine back when everyone used a scope, but that is obsolete in today's world.
