My lens making thread.

Very happy how the lens came out considering the condition of the original.

Z is doing a great job on these for me , and others that have a rambler lens need . lol ! this rumblur gasser will be a fun build , cutting on it will not even stop this vintage gasser project . unless someone wants it as is . its slated for a 440 or 383 4spd dana . here a pic wheels up , lol .

Dang Zymurgy great job, when I first saw the thread I only noticed the first page dint realize there was 24. That is a lot of reading to catch up, great journey. I starter reading because I have a broken tail light on my 65 newport.

Thanks, sorry no lenses for your Newport. If you ever need clips for the upper trim that's about all I've made so far.
 
hey this is Z's first try , and he wants it better . what a craftsmen , he is smoothing out my lens for better castings , my hats off to him . if anyone needs a lens , here is the man for the job . he will be going my lens .

I think I have finally achieved the outcome I have been looking for. If there is a flaw in the lens which 1500 grit paper won't take out I can't buff the urethane resin to a mirror finish. I decided to clear the lens and then cut and buff and got a great result.

The first detail picture shows the scratches and the last the cleared lens buffed to a near perfect reflection of my hand.

Now I have made more work for myself, because I don't trust the longevity of the clear coat, so now I will make a 2nd mold of a near perfect lens, to reproduction.

their going to be perf ' , as you said just more work and matl's . but the result will be wonderful , great job Z . glad i got you to take these on , woohoo . their better than that rumblur looks , might just have to dress up that old gal . even paint it .
