Hello gents, thanks as always for your helpful posts. I decided to see what might be the issue with my rear window motors in my '67 Newport hardtop coupe. I opened up the rear panels, and lo and behold there are no window motors!

The track/regulator mechanisms look OK, and the wiring looks good, but the motors are gone.

I guess they malfunctioned and were pulled out, then never replaced. SO, is there a source for these motors? Yes yes yes I could "do my research" and waste a half hour getting nowhere looking around on the interwebs, OR, I could just ask the guys who know the answer and get some forward motion.

You can use pretty much any power window motor from the 60's on up into the 90's from most mopar, car, truck, van etc. Only difference might be that they changed the orientation of the motor, so a pass side front from a parts car might only fit the driver rear location etc. Also they changed the electrical connector and colour of the wiring come off the motors as well. But with a little work you can easily make these work for you.

Hopefully the mounting bracket that won't come on the new motors is still in the body too. Curious what's holding the windows up without motors in place.

Thanks Matt. Well, nothing is holding the windows up except lack of lubrication of the tracks. I can pull the windows up and down by hand with a little effort. On one side I can see the topmost roller has come out of it's channel somehow.

So now I realize that the mounting brackets are gone, too. Now what? Book a flight out to Tucson and wander around a boneyard in the desert? Dig into some junkyard C-body only to find a nest of murder hornets?

Not manual Ross, all power windows. The switches were a dead giveaway.

The motors mount to the regulators, so there is not special mounting brackets. If you use a mirror and a flash light you can probably see the 3 captured nuts that the motor will attach too on the regulator.

If you do decided to go with junkyard motors just make sure that they are mounted with 3 bolts, as long as they are then they should work.

Is there at left and a right motor/assembly? I have the service manual, and I can't find any reference to the part number of the motor or any brackets.

Thanks Kevin, that post led me to the Summit page, and then in turn gave me the various part numbers, which in turn led me to Amazon and ebay. I appreciate the help.

Oh but there are mounting brackets on the end of the motor. Wanna see a picture?

You can see these motors are a mirror image of each other. 2 per car of each side.

Those are the brackets and I should have extras.

Thanks 413 and thanks Matt. I will gaze down into the body and see if those brackets might still be attached, otherwise I'll buy a pair from you Matt.

Let me be the first to mention the killer clock spring in the regulator mechanism. It can cause some serious bloodshed if you don't secure it properly when you remove the motor.

Because you can't get at the 3 bolts that hold the motor to the regulator without removing the whole assembly from the door, a major undertaking in itself, my easy button solution is to drill a hole through the steel inner door panel over each bolt so you can use a 1/4 drive socket to remove the bolts. The motor just pops off the regulator and with the window still connected to the regulator, the clock spring doesn't violently unwind causing mayhem and profanity. It also cuts hours off the job.

When you reinstall the interior door panel, it hides the minor surgery, no one is the wiser and you will still have all your fingers.

Thanks Kevin, great idea. As I look at 413's photos of the motors and brackets, it occurs to me that the available replacement motors do not appear to have the two attachment points for the bracket. THUS, the motor would be attached at the head where the drive gear is, but the bottom of the motor would not be attached with the brackets in 413's photos. I wonder if this would make any difference.

Also, I have one roller thingy that has come out of it's slot. It appears to be impossible to get it back in the slot with the unit still in the car. I am beginning to think that I might just fix the windows into the up position, and just leave it at that. I have enough things annoying me right now....

If you get the same style motor the brackets attach using the long screws that go through the length of the motor.
