Nothing drives a trim nail home like a sledgehammer(Stan)!!!:laughing4:

WOW! What a friendly site! I've been in the car business for 50 years, have collected and restored dozens of high end cars, Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Aston Martin, etc. I KNOW that this Newport is a "plain Jane", I know that the market for these sedans is at best "minimal", but I do know from selling thousands (that's right I said thousands) of them, this one is special enough to find a new home. I happen to like it, it drives like a dream. You don't buy "the best one" for ordinary condition money. You can't buy one thast just had $3000 in service for $4000, I know it and you should know it. And as far as "local car shows" goes, you're right, the trophy's aren't like Pebble Beach. (I've attended Pebble Beach 22 yeasrs in a row, I understand where you're coming from). So I'm NOT trying to turn heads away from me or uttering rash words as some have. I'm simply keeping it in my collection, no problems, don't need to sell it, but it would make someone who doesn't have a large car of the 60's, one hell-of-a-ride". Lastly I only wish each of you who made replies could see this car. For what it is, you'll NEVER find a nicer one, period.
Thanks for all the replies, I like friendy remarks, I'm a genuine friendly kind of guy.....been around the car game for 50 years this 18 July.
Happy Motoring,
Gerry

You have to understand, the core members of this site live and breath these cars. They all are good guys, just a little testy when someone aquires one from some dead neighbor, puts a grand or two into them and thinks they have a unique and rare find, and believes the car is worth 3x its value. Spend some time on this site and you will come to understand. Do not shy away, you are always welcome, you just happened to walk into the wolfs den with your white lamb.

Sold "thousands of cars"...
I have zero proof you haven't but I'm callin BS on that, too.
Never, ever heard of you.
BTW, I taught Wayne Carini everything he knows.....

2034 cars to be exact, started out in 1965, I'm 74 years old. If you have never heard of me it's not my fault, you've been buying Mopars too long. And to add more info to have you doubt, I've bought, sold, and delivered 137 Mazda Miata's in my spare time. Watch what you say. If you aren't certain that you are correct, shhhhh! I've been at it longer than some of you been alive I'll bet!
I like this site, and as an older geezer (I'm 74, not a kid anymore) and plan to enjoy the members on it as long as I have this Chrysler. I like it better than my last Rolls, a Silver Spur. It drove like a tank compared to the beautiful ride my Chrysler provides. When I said I have sold thousands, I meant it, 2034 to be exact. Let's be kind to the truth.

Stan, I starting to really like this guy. 74, and full of fire!

Ok Ive been sitting back reading for a while so now Ill weigh in too. First welcome to the board. 2ndly if you dont a least half the price youll be keeping it so you might as well hang around here. Were actually a pretty friendly lot but we call a spade a spade. Your car is a beauty but grossly overpriced.

Damn, I'll be him in ten years.
Ok, welcome aboard to FCBO, Gerry.
You got through the hazing with flying colors. With no scars yet!
I hope you keep that Newport. I already said it's gorgeous.
Maybe you sold me my new 92 yellow Miata back in 92.

John:
Thank you. I've decided to keep it till the car shows are over at least, maybe longer. It does however take up much space in my storage facility. I've been offered $8000 for it a couple of times, so I'm not in a rush to sell it. A car like this comes once in a lifetime, I only wish all of you could see and drive it, it is beyond imagination for a survivor. It leakled trans fluid, a bit of motor oil, so last week we replaced all seals, trans, rear main (just to be sure) all pan gaskets, etc, etc, now it's dry as a bone. We put on a fresh new exhaust system, and a few other goodies to keep it fresh and like new mechanically. I hear tales about the gas tanlk sending units on these crapping out all of a sudden, so we replaced this one to be safe. And why not a set of new radials, and what the hell, long as the wheels were off, let's do the brakes over, and we did, new shoes, adjusted properly, changed all fluida at the same time. I LIKE THINGS DONE WELL!
Look fellows, I'm a pretty healthy 74, have stayed in the game even though I could have quit years ago. I love casrs, and only have owned two (2) Mopars, one a 1965 Dodge D100 Sweptline, (see cover photo and story in "Vintage Truck" magazine, Jan-Feb 2012, Vol 19-6. The complete story with photos of myself and truck, it will entertain you), the other Mopar is this 1967 Chrysler Newport. I never liked them until I owned these two. My truck was an "original survivor" (read the story) with extremely low miles,. I think it was 24.000, I forgot. Anyway I'll have some fun with you, match wits with the lot of you, and give as much brutal punishment as you give me. No punishment, we stay "car buddies", but I can handle most anything or ANYBODY, "been there done that". See you at the car shows.....in upper NY State and PA.
Happy Motoring

Enjoy that car, stay on the site, lots of pics, quick wit, and you will be a senior member in no time.

We're there any 1967 Newport Custom Sedans there with really low (under 38K miles)? I don't think so, I hsad someone there looking for me, he didn't see a one like mine there. Not that I care either way. I'm aboard this site to have some fun, enjoy my car (I decided to keep it for awhile even though it infringes greatly on my storage garage space!) It takes up the room of two (2) Miatas!
Can't wait to drive it next weekend if it's mjot raining...and report on the next car show...
Gerry

I guess I graduated to being as "MOPAR" guy afterall;...

In case you'd like to see my recent 1965 Dodge D100 Sweptline Pickup (I reluctantly sold it..) , maybe you'll take me into the MOPAR fold afterall....now that I own a "C-Body". Check out the truck and the story which appeared in VintageTruck Magazine. That's my 73 yr old self standing next to my truck at the time....(last year)
Geeze, maybe this site WILL be fun afterall....YEOOOWWW!

A Swepty guy no less. I had a 69 Fargo D200 Camper Special a few years ago. If you attend a show near Buffalo with that car I could be tempted to hop over the border to see it and meet you.

One nice truck Gerry, congrats on getting published with it.

Beautiful truck, Gerry.
Hey. I'd like to do something unusual for FCBO and that is to get back on topic.
RE: your beautiful Newoprt and your firm selling price. I have no doubt you have been successful because in the world of buying and selling cars, one needs a brash personality. Your Miata friends have called you "low baller".
