Hi guy's
I want to install a 440 in my Polar instead of my 318, do I have to have a Schumaker motor mount kit or did it fit directly ? thank for your help

Motor mounts for 440 are a direct bolt in. The 318 transmission will not bolt to a 440. Drive line will have the small u-joints and check the rear end to be sure it is an 8.75 unit, 8.25 can not take 440 torque. Radiator is also different as are all the accessory mounts and pulleys.

Thank you very much Dave for the information, I bought a complete mechanic of a 72 New Yorker from the radiator to the drive shaft with the complete electrical harness ,but I discovered today that the radiator that I have in hand is not the right model, I need that number 3574656 and this radiator is a 26" and my rad support is made for a 22" maximum ?

318 engine would have a 22" radiator unless the car was ordered with the maximum cooling option which came with the 26" radiator. You can probably find a replacement core support at a wrecking yard that will accommodate the bigger radiator. 22" from a 318 has the inlet and outlet on the wrong sides to use with a 440 and would be too small in any case. Most of the 383/440 cars had 26" radiators and the core support should not be too hard to find.

OK but the radiator support must surely be different from model to another ?, where they are the same and if so then maybe I could take that of a Newport 73 that there is at the junk yard ?

my 66 newport and 68 300 both have a 440 and 22 inch radiator, no issues.

yes that I understand, even that the New Yorker 72 that I took the mechanic also had the 22" but the taxis and the police had 26" and project is to make a police car i want to do it as exact as possible

70-71 Plymouth, Dodge and Chrysler use the same core support for 26" radiator. Most police, taxi, and A/C equipped 383/440 cars will have the 26" radiator.
