Carlisle 2020 Official Thread

Come on Trace you too? Damn that really sucks, I was looking forward to seeing you again this year. Oh well, hope to see you next year then.

I know, right? And he was buying the drinks this year.....:D

I KNEW I was going to hear from you about this!

I had every intention of buying all of us many drinks at the 1794 The Whiskey Rebellion bar on Hanover Street. You have no idea how much I was looking forward to that. Or maybe you did. :D I've actually been studying people's real names the past few months when I spotted them in a post, just who I would know Wu is Wu. Scott, Michael, Will (I bought a dashboard part from you two years ago), John, John, James, Stan, Dave, Peter, Bill, Mario, Kevin...you Wu you are. But I never spotted SportFury70's real name anywhere. Must be a secret!

But yeah it's disappointing, not because I'm much afeared of covid (I'm 64, zero issues, gonna die someday, and roaring thru the Dragon area on my Duc ain't exactly life-extending behavior). It's because the fun has been taken out of all my planned travel this year. No bars, difficult restaurant reservations, crappy flights, wearing masks in 98* heat, skittish people most everywhere....well, you guys know that I'm saying. As for Mecum and BJ auctions, I love it, love it, love it. I go to a lot of them all year. But I don't see myself in an auditorium wearing a mask for 5 days. Can't recognize people I know and vice-versa, can't drink draft beer or eat pretzels thru a mask.....it's just no fun. And I do it for that great fun. So after lots of considerations, I decided not to do Carlisle. Maybe this will motivate me to trailer my car up there in 2021.

Meanwhile I await the build of my C8, pushed back many months but maybe I'll get it in September. But a tiny outbreak in Bowling Green could make that not happen either. Or....one of their suppliers, like the Tonawanda engine plant in NY. Or wherever that big infotainment screen and virtual instrument panel comes from.....Asia? :wideyed: The supply chain is a slender thread.

Damn bat-eating Wu's. They're driving me bat-****!

Yes, I had been looking forward to Whiskey Rebellion. You take care of yourself Trace, and we’ll be there in 2021. Damn kids are now making virus hot spots again, don’t know how long this will go on for, or what will be closed next.

That is some bullshit right there Trace, my name is on here in a couple places as far as I know. PLUS I met you last year in Carlisle and introduced myself, do you NOT remember? My name is Eric in case you forgot, apparently you did

You're exactly correct. For those of us who travel on a whim, the fun is largely gone. It's enormously disappointing to so many of us to not get to enjoy normal life these days, but there are many grieving relatives out there, too. They couldn't care less about Carlisle. Perspective.

We can hope that science will prevail in 2021, as it did with childhood polio 60+ years ago.

Meantime, I guess I'll walk over to the beach most days. No mask required.

I clearly do not remember (apologies), and I possibly missed it here, but I read all 49 pages today to get a feel for what's going on with "us". It's hard to link the name (and faces) with the CBod handle. But believe me, I have looked all over the place for anyone's name (and yours, too!), and I have the word.doc to prove it. I envy that many of you toss each other's given names back and forth, whilst I am clueless. Matching names is really tough at an event (like last year, for instance, when Big_John offered me a blessed chair and some cold water after walking around all day) where everybody ELSE knows each other and you're the newbie. You guys get MY name, I get a jumble of info from the firehose!

I've just added Eric to my roster. I FINALLY filled the gap!

If the only reason you bailed is because the Whiskey Rebellion is closed, rebook those tickets!

They have reduced seating but have indoor and patio dining. Reservations reccomended.

The handles are impossible to remember, too many “Polara....”, and “Cbody...“ I was always good with remembering faces, that’s why I knew who you were in the bar last year, and that’s why the group photo is invaluable. Jer, I haven’t met you in person or seen your mug posted yet, so I wouldn’t know you, but maybe if I heard you talking, lol.

Far too many of us. As I recall, last year there was some trouble trying to identify everyone in the Carlisle Group Photo.

Bill

PS: SportFury70 is Eric

Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf has ordered that everyone in the state must wear face coverings in public. The Wednesday order builds off his previous mandate to wear face coverings while inside of businesses.
