The Hai is a nice car. Sadly they builded only two of them.

Mehh I need chrome bumpers and grills on a car. These tiny European sportscars never grew on me.
Couple of years ago I attended the Essen Classic MotorShow and they had several Lamborghini Countach and Diablo there. The front wheel housing is exactly at the same lateral level as the pedals are, so the footwell is halved. With the size of my feet I would hit clutch, brake and gas pedal at the same time, I don't understand how someone could operate these cars..

Mr Leno brought this deal to the spring fling many many moons ago and it’s a pretty decent sized car. After seeing it in person I still think it’s a cooler car than a Jensen interceptor.

Thanks for posting this! I never heard the chassis was made in Germany. I thought it was made in-house. Still think so.

I believe that Leno car is the same one that was in Automobile Quarterly Magazine ”test” back in the day. That car was yellow too, and there were not so many of those, even back in the day.

Just an update: the information about the frame on that Jay Leno video is incorrect. The Monteverdi frame was made to Peter Monteverdi designs, of 70x70x3mm tubing in Switzerland, in Muttenz (a rural community next to Basel) at Stahlbau Muttenz AG. A small company that no more exists.

They made 16 of the 375 S variety. Ten were bodied by Frua (series 1), and six by Fissore (series 2). Jay Leno’s car is #1004 and has a Fissore body. It’s a curious number between #1001…1011 as all the rest were Frua cars, i.e. belonged to series 1. Monteverdi 375 S is a rare beast indeed. It was praised by the period press. Michael Lorrimer wrote a piece to Automobile Quarterly Vol 8, No 1 (summer 1969) titled ”What a Car!”. AQ article showed a Frua bodied car. Mechanically it was the same as the Jay Leno Fissore bodied one. Chrysler 440 HP and a four on the floor.
