The 1965 Polara/Monaco/880 thread!!

65 Dodge Monaco 4 Seat Specialty Coupe. Matching #'s 413, 727, 8 3/4, 323, P/S, P/B, Factory Air, Tilt, 4W-PDS AA1Poly Gold/Black. Top was originally Ivory White but a previous owner changed it to a black vinyl top. I owned it 9 years. Cosmetically it is about 20 years old. Mechanically it has about 17,000 or less and near 100,000 since new. I try to do something major at least once a year. It is a 10 footer daily driver dependable. Some upgrades are 134 air, electronic ignition and regulator, 100 amp alternator, front disc, 7 leaf rear springs. Still need to address the steering box, column and TB'S. I put an aluminum radiator high out put pump and thermostat but the cooling system is improved but still about 10 - 15 degrees to warm in the summer.

That looks very nice! My Polara 500 was that color originally, wish I had side view of it in that color, looks much better than the pictures I have, now I'd consider going back to original...

Thanks for that info. Any numbers for Canadian cars in '66?

And people didn’t believe me when I told them my ‘16 Hemi Charger weighed 300 lbs. more than my Monaco!

It was rumoured that 2112 were made in Windsor, ON but i have no way to prove this.

All I have, at present, for the Canadian 1966 Dodge is the total production at Windsor - 31,744. I also have the total production of the 1966 Valiant (model BL1/2) as well as breakdown of Fury and Chrysler by body style for 1966. The only detailed information I have is for the 1966 Dodge Darts built at Windsor for the U.S. market.

I suspect that 2,112 was for one model / body style.

Yes agreed, for the convertible Polara's only

My late Grandfather's 1965 Canadian Dodge Monaco (3speed auto, 318 w/ plymouth Fury interior b/c Canada. Gold on Gold), which he ordered new from the factory. My Dad thought about restoring it when he was my age, but found out the 318 was bad, and never got a chance to revive it. Over all its decent, and probably the most viable candidate for restoration and it has caught my eye. I hope to get around to it after I finish my '83 Ramcharger, as I'm using it as an easy first step in learning how to restore these old classics. Nearly everything is there, and there is a second parts Monaco I need to dig out of the bush to evaluate. I would love to see this thing living again, and I plan to learn about these as much as possible in the next few years as I slowly collect some of the missing pieces. New to the forum, and new to classic Mopars!
