You don't believe me, huh? :icon_fU:

Truthfully, it's best you don't...
Seriously, I'll be interested in what you come up with for numbers.
I'll take a guess. Piston is down in the hole .120-140, chamber volume is on the low side maybe 90cc, high side 92 cc, you had a composite gasket on there.

You will never get crisp throttle response out of a engine with compression that low. It will always feel lazy. IMHO

I don't like decking the block because then you have to shave the intake manifold.
Yes, it starts to make bastard parts. If the deck is at the factory spec I would leave it alone, if it is above factory spec and/or crooked it could come into spec and be proper.
A step head hypereutectic piston would help kill off that dead area across from the spark plugs on a big block and raise the compression without breaking the bank.

I was looking at that but the ones I was looking at stated that the heads would need machining to allow them.

I’m looking to get a little over 9/1 CR. Nothing too crazy. The agree that 7.8/1 sucks.

flat top with relief for valves as to insurance.

Something like the KB 237, has over 2.0" compression height, so it acts like a six pack piston height in the bore wise. That should put you in the ~9:1 range.

The ATC not working is a bummer. I would think that I'm a pretty damn good mechanic but that ATC is enough of a deterrent to make me pass on a car with ATC. I have manual A/C in both of my Formals and it was a breeze to rebuild the A/C system in both of them and get them working.
I’d take an ATC car anytime.

That’s what I’m looking at. Waiting on the block to see if we end up at .30 over to order them.

the raised dome KB 137.... may be too much.

Hiccup from Summit .... They can’t get me the cam shaft I ordered two weeks ago til the end of August.... maybe

so I’m going to hunt around for a quicker delivery.

block has been stripped and went in the tank today. Original machine shop didn’t work out new one seems more appreciative of my work.

heads in today.

Block out of the tank Clean as can be....and has checked out as good via a magnaflux. Hopefully they will machine it tomorrow and let me know what size pistons to order.
