Chrysler’s New Name

Stellantis ... oh well

My suspicion is the brands will predominate the identification with the vehicles for common folk like me.

Sad to see "Chrysler" corporate name go .. but such is life in the economic jungle. Corporate Darwinism.

I don't think average consumer gives a rip about company name .. are the cars any good( will they be priced right, right features, high quality .. stuff like that).

I actually think this can be a successful company .. for a while at least.

Yep. Most wont even know or care that this change is happening

I’d have loved to be in that woke-joke boardroom meeting. phord and chebbie can’t keep up and feel we have to much horsepower privilege let’s cancel ourselves... BLM brand X losers matter

there are threads here on this already (i.e., the merger and the brands) so not trying to hijack here .. but i am not sure the "Chrysler" brand-name has legs. all's left is Pacifica and I guess a 2021 300C?

Stellantis (gee, that don't quite roll off the tongue does it) seems to need at least two things (and maybe they have them). an (a) autonomous vehicle play, and (b) world-class electrics/hybrids.

i still happen to like the 300C. its got HEMI zip, some bling, good road manners, holds its own with comparably/more expensive sleds...maybe the "Stellantians" keep it a while longer?

The news says they're looking for a logo to go along with the new name. The first hit for "Stellantis" on Google image search is a woman plucking stars out of the sky with a giant pair or tweezers.

The stylized "A" they're using in STELLANTIS looks a bit like tweezers. Voila! They can send me a big cheque for my design services. :D

Stellantis kind rhymes with "cialis". Where are those 300 convertibles, parked side by side at the drive-in?

BAD thing is that if you look at those accumulated vehicle brands, the former Chry Corp brands might probably be the most viable universal brands of the bunch. The others might be considered to be "regional" brands, but not total "world brands"? BUT, there are some interesting brands in there too. After all, Opel was the brand that was doing all of GM's non-NA brands, including Holden . . . which generated the vehicles that later became the Cadillac Catera and also the Holden Monaro. But still, each of the Euro brands had their own unique flavor depending upon where they were engineered and sold.

I suspect there will continue to be a demand for "larger rwd cars", in the USA and otherwise, for a few more platform generations. Leaving the Charger as one of the best-selling 4-drs on the market today. As long as there's a Charger, I suspect there'll also be a companion Chrysler model. EACH of the variations can make production more viable, typically.

The other thing might be "Does FIAT really need that many brands for the company to make money?" As long as they'll let the former Chrysler Group be "Chrysler", things will probably be (at least) good. But with a little Jeep already having a FIAT vin, what's going to be next? Time will tell!

Respectfully,

We will be known as Stellanteans from now on living in our secret underwater head office located in the Trevi Fountain complaining about everything because we are French.....:BangHead::BangHead::BangHead:
