The in laws had an 86 Aries with the 2.5L
Ran it for 200,000+ kms
Couldn’t kill the thing

The 1 and the 3 are jigged enough for me to believe it's 113k miles.
That said someone did a hell of a detailing job on it from the auction photos.
I'd look closely for a repaint.

Appears to be a 'Antifa' marked car I'd stay away!

Ok I looked it over today. The good is it really does only have 13k on it. The not so good is it does need some work. Mechanical is good except for the brakes. Booster leaks and pedal goes to the floor. Passenger side mirror is broken and it needs a headliner. Paint other than the trunk lid is presentable but not great. A scuff and shoot would be in order. It would make a good little driver with some work but I wouldn't pay much for it. Even with the years of sitting the interior still smelled good. Here's a couple of pictures I took but most of it is covered in the ad.

Thanks for checking the car out. How was the seller able prove the car really only has 13k miles?

No proof but looking at the car it's obvious. Still has paint and assembly line marker all over the engine bay and underside. Underneath is very clean. All the nooks and cranny's are clean. The interior smell new even. It's not a deodorized has been cleaned smell, it's how these cars smelled when new. The only issues with the car are age and sitting related. I would say it's about a $1500 car as it sits.

Shame the headliner is in that state, is that the kind you have to pull the windshield to replace?

I guess he had left the windows down a little and a windstorm blew through and since it was sagging it ripped it apart. $200 was the quote he got to replace it.

Looks like the trip meter reset knob is broken. That's minor, it would be a great driver and worth $15-1800 I would imagine.

Where else are you going to find a 35 year old car with only 13k miles.

Am I correct to assume the majority of K Cars were scrapped being considered low to no value?

Looks a cute little thing.

In its October '13 issue, Hemmings Classic Car ("Detroit Underdogs" column) featured the Ks under the headline, "The Kollector Kar You Kan Enjoy Every Day." They published my letter in response in which I wrote, "Aw, krap, I had a K-car, but didn't keep it!"

The fuel injection did wonders for the little four-banger's driveability. The carburetor and mechanical fuel pump in my '84 Aries wagon drove me nuts, especially in cold weather. I'd have been much happier with the F.I., and may have kept the car much longer. The five-speed stick helped it get almost 40 mpg on the highway!

K-cars and PT Cruisers seem to be the Rodney Dangerfields of Mopars.

Never, ever, rely on a Mopar NA 4 banger. Never knew an owner that could get the carburetor problems resolved.
had an 82 aries with a good carb. no oil pressure though. had an 84 reliant that the carb was apart constantly. never knew if you were going to make it to work that day or not. they were holleys weren't they?

If I recall correctly, the Mopar 2.2s came with Holleys, while the Mitsubishis had (I think) Mikuni.
I had the oil-pressure idiot light come on a lot after 100k mi. Don't remember if I had to replace the oil pump; too many years have flown by since then. :wideyed:

Yes a Holley 2bbl.
I had an 83 K car with the 2.2L and the carb never gave me trouble.
I would not have bought it if it had the Mitsushitty 2.6 with the really nighmarish Mukini carb.
Sold this ridiculously clean example to finish the BoaB.
