No three speaker dash, no 8 track, no am/fm. Well, there shouldn't be. Unless a sheet shows up or the tag, presume it was built AM.

Agreed. What I am guessing might have happened is that a dealer could have upgraded the radio prior to the initial sale or a resale. I have seen this kind of dealer upgrade on at least one other car (a 1971 if that matters).

I find it incredible that people who dont "ask" for their car to be pulled off a market place, ...find it being pulled apart by people who 'aint buying it anyway...unless its a massive bargain...then, the radio would not matter, maybe its just me.
Cheap cars, I take them at face value and not the fact the original dust caps are missing LOL

Who says nobody is buying? You haven’t been paying attention obviously.

 Discussing whether the radio in the dash is the original one or not is "pulling a car apart"? I see. I guess that when folks say they "like" this car or that it is "neat" or "nice", they are somehow also being negative? Sheesh...

Since you've been on the board for almost five months I am sure that, in this very long period of time, you've learned that the person with the most posts in this thread has personally owned more 1970 Polara 'verts than anyone else in the world... right?

"Cheap" or not, most of the FCBO members whom I know like to understand every aspect of the cars in which they are interested. In my case, other than learning about each individual 1970 Polara 'vert still alive (842 made, 2 of which I own), that's because I like my cars to be as close as possible to original. Things that need brought back to original cost money. AFAICT, no C-body is an investment -- but losing more money is worse than losing less money. Maybe it's just me...

Ey, be careful, I might have to put up some pics to show you all what I REALLY do/have done with MOPARS...you dont know what the word rust means LOL.

He understands what rust is and what people with talent can do to repair it as if it never happened...

His point is they are only original once. That's what he aims for, originality.

With no data plate to show exactly what it was optioned with. I see how it raises question and open discussion. Need to see a buildsheet.

It would not matter to me either, I would be putting a hood scoop and go wing on this car.

Not quite. And you missed Buttercup. Not all of them will be staying with me forever, though. My long-term equilibrium is three (maybe four) cars, including Poppy and a certain ‘71 Newport that @saforwardlook knows well.

I already have one who puts up with me :poke:
If you bought this one, you could line them all up: red, white and blue!

Well folks, DL27L0D208692 sold to Illinois today! And no, I am not the buyer

The car is very solid, here is what she needs AFAICT. With a bit of luck, she could be ready in time for the 4th Midwest show that @sixpkrt is organizing:

--> mechanicals: alignment, four new shocks, fix the aftermarket cruise control, get the fuel gauge to be accurate, replace several bulbs;
--> cosmetics: correct steering wheel, correct mirrors, correct wheels, correct-color carpet, re-chromed bumpers, and re-upholstered seats.

To solve the mystery of the radio, here are two photos that the seller's brother sent to me. @polara71 and @saforwardlook were right of course, the dash pad was the tell-tale (even without seeing the actual 8-track) that the radio was not original. Here is the radio currently in the dash and also a photo of the spare parts that come with the car, including the "similiwood" cover plate that would have been with the original (R11 or R13) radio:

Looks like a Chrysler radio. Hell, I just gave one to Wyatt just like it at Carlisle.

By the way, great photos, keeper coming. Something tells me you're holding out

I have about 30 photos of DL27L0D208692, but I'm afraid that the rest are pretty boring. I got them from the seller to confirm that she is a really dry and solid car whose 15-year old paint job was and remains a good one.

I liked this car and kept coming back to this post, but it just wasn’t screaming You have to buy me. I would like a convertible some day, just not sure what.
Maybe I am stuck in the slab zone.
I want something with a solid body and an ok interior. The mechanicals don’t bother me as long as all the parts are there. This ticked those boxes but just didn’t excite me.

Gotta wait for the right one, you'll know it when you see it.

Don't wait too long, your life is too precious.

....anyhow, why has my Fury fender tag have the complete alphabet in lower case and capitals across it, is it from Pluto or somethin'?
