What did you do to your C-body today....

Speaking of transmissions, again.. as I mentioned earlier, Gingers transmission is on its way out. ReVerse is pretty much shot and I can feel the forward gears starting to go. I also mentioned that a rebuild has been quoted around $1300 ish. I did some digging and I see a brand new TCI transmission for around the same money. There may be other brands out there but that’s the first one I thought of and am familiar with.

Pro’s - Cons!! Should I have the one in the car rebuilt or Purchase New? I think at this point with the car I’m not overly concerned with OE parts, I use them where I can and when affordable. But..

What say you????

John: I would have the original rebuilt by a good shop / guy. Not only is it original, but you know it fits and will work with the current setup in the car. With an OTC transmission, you really never know what yer getting.

Thanks to jrdudeman I acquired another piece of unobtanium for the 68 Imperial restoration, In this case the headlight scanner (the stalk between the wipers)

...one year only item (in this configuration).

Finally got the registration papers for my grandfather's plate he had on his 70 fury long before my time. I never met the guy, but I'm sure he'd be tickled. Plus, it looks pretty damn good with the dealer frame from red skunk. Thanks again!

Mike, you quite welcome. From your first posts about your car I thought that where that frame belonged.

I agree Rip, that’s kind of the way I was leaning to begin with but just wanted a nudge from you guys..

I drove it. My son and I live about two hours away from each other (when traffic isn’t f**ked up) and we get together periodically for a sandwich and a beer at a place that’s sort of a halfway point. Monday was my birthday and tomorrow is his, so I took advantage of a nice day and drove the Newport to go hang out with him for a while. All in all, a very good day.

I got my Grasshopper catcher installed. Hope to keep the big bug parts out of the radiator but not restrict the air flow like a window screen.

Took the Newport out for a good shakedown cruise after getting the fuel pump pushrod out and the new one installed. Went to "P" ridge for a sandwich and a beer to celebrate.
The name of the beer says it all!!

Cleaned the bugs off after my 250 mile journey through lakes country. Had to remove my headlight surrounds to get the big bugs out of my headlights.
Grasshopper screen did it’s job. I just have to undo a couple of thumb screws to pull it off to clean.

Big Red and the three pups anchored a car parade for a child's birthday. Everyone thought it was cool and "nice Lincoln".

Adjust the brakes correctly and bleed the lines. Then went for a test cruise mostly at 70 no stopping until the off ramps. The pedal is nice and firm now.

Just out for some excersize. The Monaco likes to roll! Car runs cool till it sits in this hot humid weather for more than ten minutes.
Still waiting for the rear seat from upholsterer. Apparently their supplier went belly-up due to the covid shut-dn. She had to find a new foam supplier.

I took my wife to Zorbaz on the Lake for a Mexican pizza and beer this afternoon. Nice little hour and 15 minute drive each way.

Took wagon out last Wed drove back roads through several counties then into West Virginia to Ogelby Park in Wheeling stopped by the lake was couple hour wait to take out a paddle boat so we passed maybe next time.Check out the large multi person swans.

Went Saturday to Racoon State Park in Pa for a picnic lunch i forgot to take pics. Total mileage for trips 205 miles. Car is running flawless so much more enjoyable to drive since the new tires & steering adjustment and the rear end redo with new u-joints no more constantly holding wheel to right to keep car straight and no vibration in the wheel. Sorry for the late post.
