Hello, I bought a 65 sport fury and it came without keys. It looks like I can't get the tumbler out without the key so I will have to drill it out. Can anyone recommend a place where to get a new tumbler and door lock set for these? These 65s are the odd ball year it looks like. I have thought about calling out a locksmith also.... what are everyone's thoughts?

I'd have a locksmith make a key rather than try find new. Take the door cylinder out and to the locksmith. (Or the ignition switch, whichever is easier for you.)

You can buy a new switch assembly and key assembly. Just put the two together and swap out what is in there now. Simplest thing to do. Of course, your door locks won't have keys....

I took my ignition in to a local lock shop and they made me new keys.

It was in 2006. I think he re keyed doors and ignition. I saw the receipt a couple of weeks ago. $40? I will have to look for it again.

Now I cannot remember if they just made keys off my old one or actually changed the tumbler to match new keys. Anyway he took care of me because we couldn’t find any keys.

I bought the kit that gives matching keys for ignition & doors on Fleabay a few years ago...

If the ignition switch is the same as mine, you didn't need a key to remove the main tumbler...

I good guy can read the lock without takeing it out. He puts a blank in and turns it a few times and looks at the marks and starts cutting the notches .then tries and has todo some trimming .It works. but also some door locks have numbers or if you are luckey enough to have the orignal owners manual some have a key code writer in it. then you cross that in the book to the punch code and out comes a key.

Just have a proper locksmith do it! Not a newbie either, old school guys have the smarts and the tools (master keys) so you can get a new key made that fits the doors/trunk.

I have a 65 Chrysler Newport came without keys I took the door lock out it is the same as the ignition and took the trunk lock out through the back seat I unbolted the latch assembly and opened the trunk it's key fits the glove box also and my glove box was locked also and took them to a very good locksmith he made them while I waited and charged me $25 for both keys.

Yep, took my sons 96 Jeep cylinder down as the cylinder was broken, the guy keyed a new one and the same key fits the dorrs/hatch like it never happened. I remember having cars with 3 keys, PIA!

So I took it to the locksmith and got a key made for the ignition, but that key doesn't fit the doors. :(

Means someone has changed either door locks or ignition in the past... likely ignition.
