Vacuum Dash Switch /// What Is This?????

Just wondering if anyone knows what this dash switch application is? There is also what appears to be a electrical contact built into this as well. I cannot find a part number anywhere on this piece. I don't have the box for it either.

Not a dimmer switch, that's for sure.

I think that's part an ATC heater/AC switch. I've seen it somewhere, I just can't remember where.
 
I tried to search for member devinism & nothing came up. Probably doing it wrong. I have a lot of switches I’d like to sell. Hopefully if he’s still a member he will chime in.
 
given how it works I would say it controls the variable position of something...not so much a switch but a position control
 
Thanks for all of the replies!!!!!!!! There are no numbers on the thumbwheel piece at all - just the red middle portion. It looks like there should be numbers on the thumbwheel according to the FSM. Again - thanks for all the replies!!!!!!!
