Hey all, seriously considering taking on a pretty big project - 70 Newport convertible blue/blue with serious rot underneath. Stub frame is good, rear rails could be patched, but needs floorpans/rocker work or replacement, and the trunk dropoffs and most of the trunk pan are toast as well as the back third of the wheelhouses.

It looks like there are partial floor pieces available, and the trunk pan, but how about any of the rest of it? Or are we looking at parts from a donor?

It's not a high option car - 383 2v, power steering power top, blue one blue car. Body sheetmetal doesn't look bad, the interior is nice, and the car is pretty cheap. I have the equipment to do the work, just curious how much I'm going to have to pull from a parts car - I have NO room to store a parts car, so that's a challenge for me.

1970 Newport ‘vert? Would you have a tag up post in the informal registry of the last convertibles?

You are pretty much going to need to get parts from a donor. Almost nothing aftermarket out there. Might be able to get some sheet metal from 4dr Chryslers that will translate over to 2dr vert, but even that is hard to come by.....

The C2C stuff is junk. Being nice, it's very generic in fit and you'll do more work to get it fitted then you would if you made them from scratch. The stuff I bought looked like it was built in high school shop class.

@cbarge made some decent looking trunk extensions for his car. He can point you towards his thread.

For the rest, quite frankly, if the car is that bad, go buy something else. You'll be $$ ahead. If you really want to go through it, advertise for some here or find a 4 door western or southern car to strip the pieces out of.

The good new is all 65-73 C bodies are virtually identical underneath. So you can source used floors, rails and such from any 65-73 Fury, Polara, Chrysler. Very few changes were made through the years to the structural panels

chryslers have a longer wheelbase that lengthens the rear footwell area. otherwise used pans will work.

I took a chance and bought the floor pans from C2C. As stated, they are of marginal quality and not drop-in ready. I had to trim and massage it. But in the end, I think it turned out ok and in my case it was easier than starting with a flat piece of sheet metal since I don't have a bead roller, slip roller, etc.
