This 1966 Newport was here a while back. A member did yeoman's work and helped me make the connection so now its home.

Real nice car, 383 car, low optioned, and needs a few things, pretty clean and highly original. I will post how it turns out. I have no plans except make it a mechanically reliable, real cool DD.

photos below are between 2 and 6 montha old. seller has high integrity, and car looks exactly like these photos, though of course hard to tell how nice it really is sittin' on the truck today.

Congrats Ray, what a beauty!

MM1 Turbine Bronze Metallic. Didnt find this as a Newport color in 1966. Obviously you could get it. Its original except for driver side, front half .. doesnt appear to be able to "buff out" ... but we'll try (may have to do it all given its been retouched)

I bought this because its "more doors with a post", beautifully understated with some bling in that color.

Had I been maybe 20 years younger than the age I am now, with two kids, back in '66, operating on a budget but still wanting to look cool ... this is what i might have owned.

@AmazingBlue82 -- very nice score. Turbine bronze is one of my favorite Mopar colors. The car as a whole is subtle, with mid-sixties tones and just enough pop from the paint color to make it something quite special.

@cbarge is IMHO right on target in his assessment. The interior is really in very nice original condition -- love it. Another nice one you have saved!

Congrats!! She may be low optioned, but she sure is special!
If I had the room I would have bought it.
I would not change a thing except make her safe and reliable.

The Turbine car program tested a lot of things other than the turbine engine.
The paint color was one thing that came out of that program.
It was available midway through the model year but had to be ordered.
Which explains not being able to find it on paint chip cards that are normally printed off in the beginning of the model year..
For 67 and 68 it was included in the paint cards.

If some of the car has been "retouched", it probably was done in acrylic lacquer rather than the OEM acrylic enamel (as the rest of the car is painted with). The color might match well, but the enamel will always have a harder shine than any acrylic lacquer ever could, by observation.

One recommendation . . . do NOT use the thick wool pads on an orbital buffer. The buffer will sit there and do its thing as the pad remains stationary, absorbing all of the buffer's motion. Only the normal thinner pads work, by observation.

Try to make the car as great as it can be. It'll be worth the effort.

Take care,
CBODY67

Just a little elbow grease with good old red polishing compound and then white... Beautiful.

BTW, I don't see any heater hose.... :poke:

Very nice!

It's unusual to see Turbine Bronze paired with the gold interior.

I would make one change. That would be to add my absolute favorite deep dish wheel covers.

NICE Newport - especially that color. Elegant, yet practical. These turbine wheel covers are great on any '66 - '67 car, but would be especially good on a Turbine Bronze car...….

They require the matching deep dish steel wheel.
Kelsey Hayes 14x6.
They will not fit standard skinny 14 inch wheels that are on the car.
Been through this already, and I am just giving the heads up.

i am not familiiar with this wheel cover i dig it. Would have guessed they were 15's though. If the Newp has 14's, that surprises me too. thats not a problem -- they just look bigger.

I certainly do NOT have the deep 14x6's .. anybody with a decent set, PM please to discuss.
