I fixed the gaps in my steering wheel with an epoxy. I originally painted it with krylon spray paint, but it’s not holding up. Any ideas?

The only paint that might have a chance of holding would be an epoxy based paint. Even that would be a short term fix. The hard plastic on a steering wheel provides a very poor bonding surface. www.garyssteeringwheel.com among others can restore your existing steering wheel.

On my '65 Valiant's steering wheel, I used epoxy to fill the cracks and primed/painted it with color matched epoxy paint. It has held up extremely well and has hairline cracks just starting to show after 34 years... AND it has manual steering!
To keep the paint from running, use a broom handle (or an extra steering column shaft) to hold it. Keep spinning it slowly as the paint sets. Once it's set, lock the handle/shaft into a vise and give it several days to dry.

Did you use real krylon or the water based stuff? I used the real stuff brought back from Az and a little clear. So far it’s held up great for a couple years now. The real trick is to wax it after you’re done. I didn’t like the feel of mine at first then I waxed it and now I forget that it’s painted until somebody posts a new what about painting my steering wheel thread LoL!!! Trust me on this, wax it.

I painted mine with epoxy paint over 25 years ago and it still looks great.
