Kidney Stone

Sounds like you don't drink enough water? I was on a A.F. trip, the Co-pilot all he ever drank was those large jugs of Arizona iced teas, 1 a day. We told him he's going to have problems if he keeps that up. Sure enough, he got a large one that threw him in the hospital for a couple days. At least the Crew had a chance to hang out in a cool place in the world for a couple extra days while we waited for a new Copilot, somewhere in Spain! Good Luck

John, I've been in the water tank 5 timez and on the table once for a total of 6 stonez blasted by Lithotripsy starting in the early '80s. and into the late '90s. Do you know if your stones are calcium based or something else. P.M. me if you know and find out from your Urologist if you do not know. Theirz a non-invasive fix IF they're calcium based. NO SURGERY, NO MORE STONEZ, NO **** ... I've been stone free for 20 yearz, Jer

Well maybe you could spill the beans. Can a person do your fix even is unknown what kind the stones are?

Lost the last month to stones. Stones ain’t no fun.

I was diagnosed with a 15 mm kidney stone last week. I've had smaller ones but this one just isn't gonna fit through the plumbing.

So... They are scheduling a lithotripsy for me. This uses sound to bust the stone into small pieces that can be passed.

Anyone ever had this done? I'd love to hear if it works as well as they claim.

That's quite the boulder John. My wife has had Kidney Disease for the last 25 years that causes her to develop kidney stones by the bushel. She has had the lithotripsy performed and as mentioned above the procedure is not as bad as the stone passing afterwards. I am surprised by the number of similar stories here on this forum regarding kidney issues. I wasn't aware it was that prevalent. Good luck and drink gallons of water afterwards!

There goes my theory as to why you are called " Big John" ......
:rofl::rofl:

That's good...

I don't know if I ever said where "Big John" comes from or not.

Big John comes from when my oldest son, also named John, got into his teenage years. This was before cell phones. When he was young, the phone would ring, they would ask for John and it was easy to figure out who the call was for... But when the voices of his buddies' started changing, there was more than a few times where it got mixed up. So, the easiest was to ask "Big John or Little John?". He's not a junior, our middle names are different, so neither one of liked "junior or senior?".

The name "Big John" stuck with some of my friends.

little John leads to so many wise crack possibilities including sheriff of Nottingham jokes....

Missed you at Carlisle, hope all is well.

Not trying to be secretive or know it all Scott and just P.M.d you that information. FYI group, The key is calcium based kidney stones. The fix IZ: that their is some chemical in ALL Blood Pressure Medications that prevent Calcium Based Stones from forming in the kidneys. Ask your Urologist about that, He, She'll know. Hell guyz, I'm just ah dumb *** retired Big Rigger and I do not suffer from High Blood Pressure OR KIDNEY STONES ANY MORE and I happily take one of those little B.P. Pills every day and have for the past 20+ yearz now, Jer

Been taking a very small dose of BP meds for quite a while now, so either it doesn't work for me or my stones aren't calcium.

I had a stone that got stuck, most pain I’ve ever felt, and I’ve had my shoulder dislocated 5 times. Too small to blast and too big to pass so they went in with a scoop and plucked it out. Ever since then it’s been a gallon or more of water every day, but if you are prone to getting them, not even that will help. The meds that helps prevent them is the same that treats some types of gout, which can also be caused by calcium. My father
In law would have his Kidney stones blasted every two years or so. Used to carry around a vile of the old ones he passed for show and tell. From what I know it’s the safest alternative to surgery. He had that done once and it was months of recovery and complications.

I get bouts of gout every so often. It might be the beer? Never had a kidney stone, don't want one, my BIL gets them (Too much store bought ice tea). I do know that my gout will flare up if I get dehydrated and eat the wrong things. Lots of water is not a bad thing.

Of you're taking a small BP dose for B.P. John I'd talk to your Urologist. Don't assume nothin'. Jer
I'm really on the borderline for high blood pressure... Actually it's more that my blood pressure isn't real constant.

Anything more than the dosage I'm on and I tend to end up on the floor.

I'm sure the urologist and I will have a chat about it. When checking my prostate, he will always say something like "don't worry, this won't hurt me a bit, I'll be OK". When I first saw him a few years ago, he told me that having stones was "bullshit that you don't have to put up with".

Lol, my urologist refers to himself as Dr Bendover, and always says “I promise I won’t go in past my elbow”.

Things are going OK. Still putting one foot in front of the other.
Good, keep it that way please... we both have a "lost Carlisle" to make up for.

Hope the solution is pain free.

This didn't go well...

Got me all ready and in the room. Couldn't find the stone on the fluoroscope, so they ended up kicking me loose.

To add insult to injury, they caught my IV tube on the door on the way out... At least I got them to stop before it did any damage.

Gotta see the doc again in two weeks for other "options" that don't sound like any fun.

Bummer. Hope they help you soon. We just had a guy come back to work after being out almost there weeks because of kidney stones, I guess he had a procedure, but I haven't had a chance to talk with him yet. I only had those couple, enough for me.
