I have 235/70r15s on the front of my car, for the rear I’d like to get something with the same sidewall but a little bit wider. It looks like a 275/60r15 will fit that bill, my question is can I run that tire without clearance issues on the rear of a ‘66 NYer with wheel skirts? If not I’ll probably just get the same size as the fronts. Any input is appreciated. Thanks

G'Day,
Going through the same agony myself.
Only advice I can offer is err on the cautious side.
Some years ago I went to a Great Deal of trouble, did all the figures etc.,
only to find that while the Tyres cleared the inner guards no Problem.
But in a Corner the Raised Lettering on the Sidewall made a sound
like a Rattle Gun in Action. LOL
All the Best. Tony.M
(By the Way Fellas can someone kindly explain to this Old Dummy how to Start a New Post on this Site? TIA)

Don't know. I've seen a few cars with the skirts removed because of too wide of a wheel/tire. Doesn't look good.

@FURYGT can probably give you an answer. He had a 66 with skirts and good size tires in there, the Flyin' Whale, but I can't remember who it got sold to, or if it was even disclosed.

The Flying Whale had the rear springs moved inboard a bit and it had 17" wheels, 8" wide fronts and 9" wide rears with 50 aspect tires.
