71 Polara wagon - Andersons U Pull it Kearney NE

Hopefully someone has been able to swing by and save some parts from this poor thing...any luck @lemondana?

It's amazing that these yards won't sell the body by itself.
It also bothers me to see salvageable classic parts with lots of life left in it being crushed and sent to China.

What I dont get...i offered 1000 bucks for what I saw in the pics sight unseen....they said no...just to crush it and get $75 a ton...you'd think someone with a brain would have been like damn this guy is an idiot lets take his money.

They probably paid 200 for the whole damn thing.

That's pretty honorable of you Wyatt...well at least you tried!
If I worked there I'd have given you an "out the back door" deal lol

If i worked there...it would have never gotten off the tow truck. I would have had it taken to my place.

But i don't. THATS WHAT SUCKS

Hi all: I did go out last Monday, to check it out. My knees are getting so bad it pains me to walk to far. They did have golf cart to rent for $5.00 an hour. I was mainly interested in a front bumper, which it did have and I did get. It looks to me that the car had been there quite a long time. Somebody had cut the complete roof sheetmetal out, probably for a streetrod roof insert. So most of the interior was weathered fairly bad. It was a 360 2 bbl car with AC, PS, power disc brakes. The rear floor area had heavy undercoating on it and the car was full of trash, it did look OK from the bottom. The hood was off, so everything under the hood was weathered.
By the looks of the place on their website it looked real nice, like it hadn't been there to long, I asked in the office, and he said they've been open for 7 years. And sorry: I forgot to take pictures, I remembered when we were about 10 miles away.
I plan on going out again in a few weeks, just for some small stuff. I'll try to get pictures then.

This Polara was in the classic section. Most of these yards around here don't crush the old stuff as often as the newer stuff-the price of iron is way down.

Possibly Wyatt...but obviously I'd have to be sure that footwell is in great shape first. I'm going to be taking some time off work at the end of this month, I'd imagine I could go then

grab the fender tag.

I've purchased four fender tags for 15 each. One vin tag for 20 and a build sheet for 10 bucks. All in the last few months. All C bodies and one A body tag.
I've also been given two tags in the last few months. Those were E body tags surprisingly enough. The fella understands that I'm after information and will share any info I get on any tag I get with anyone who cares enough to learn a little about these cars.

I have a bit of a fascination with the info as I am younger than most here and did not get to see these cars in junk yards and just neglect the info to the crushers.

The inside of the wagon has been exposed to the elements for a long time. And I don't remember even seeing the seats in the car. So I don't know about the build sheet. I'll let you know if I go out again.
