Tooth broke off the lock. Parking brake still works good, here in flat Northern Ohio, but only if I keep my foot on it. Can I just grind that one hinge bolt off and replace the lock assembly or weld a tooth on?

Looks like a huge pain to take whole parking brake assembly off. I'm thinking the front fender has to come off to get to the whole parking brake assembly? Thanks guys!

It looks like you have a rust problem that caused the pawl to break off. You should replace the whole pedal assembly. Is there a big hole in the cowl above the parking brake assembly?.

You did not say what car you have but I have one off a 1970 300. $50.00 plus shipping.

Thanks for the great info guys. I didn't see those bolts since about 20 million old wires were in the way. Not much room but If I'm able to get it out, I'll let you know if I can weld it or if I want to buy another one from one of you.

Those things actually work? Lol. Every car I've ever had, the whole assembly from pedal to backing plates was seized solid or quickly becomes that way. I've always considered them ornamental at best.

I've never understood why people do not use their E-brake systems, such and easy thing to do every time you stop. If you have ever had an automatic transmission apart and seen the small parking rod that locks the transmission you would not want to trust just that to hold your car in place.

Every vehicle I have ever had I use the e-brake system, yes some required a couple new cables or what have you, but really doesn't cost much to get the system working properly.
