Hi everyone, my son just bought his first car. He is 16 years old. A '56 dodge Custom Royal. I will help him as much as I can. I was steered to for c bodies only from someone at for a bodies only.
His car is pretty darn solid, it's a 4 door with a 315 poly? and a push button automatic. Should be the coolest kid in the school parking lot!

Welcome, There was a 315 poly V-8 engine for '56 Dodges. It was rated at 218 horsepower. The 315 poly is a high deck engine that started life as a Hemi but was adapted to become a poly head engine to cut production costs for 1956. Dodge also produced a 315 Hemi offered with the D-500 package that was rated at 260 horsepower.

But, it gets more complicated, do you know if your Dodge was a Canadian produced automobile? The Canadian Dodges also offered a 303 cid poly for cars built for sale in Canada. This was a Plymouth engine in US produced cars.
