BEST RADIATOR OPTION

Good job! Making do is something we all CAN do with our C bodies. I've been tempted to cut my 22 inch yoke, but would prefer to get one meant for 26" radiators. The way the sheet metal is rolled to give support and all makes me think twice about cutting. Of course, yours came that way, so you have nothing to lose. Stay Cool!
TY Gerald - guess I was just looking for the reasssurance that a little modification in a case like this was “acceptable”. Any input on the overflow container I have pictured? What’s everyone else with my set up using/doing?

That overflow bottle should be FINE! I use a 1 liter plastic bottle w a 1" lid, which I bored two holes in. One takes the 3/8" poly tube from the radiator overflow, with the other venting to the ground if its needed. Yours should work VERY well. One thing: Don't rely on your overflow bottle to fill the radiator with coolant. Fill the radiator directly, then allow it to "puke" into the overflow if it must. The FSM clearly instructs us to keep the coolant level WELL below the top of the tank anyhow. Look:

So, do as they instruct and make sure you keep the coolant level at 1.25" below the bottom side of the filler neck. That gives your coolant room to breath in the upper tank, and COOL more efficiently. THIS is WHY you shouldn't rely on an overflow bottle to maintain the correct level in your radiator as a filling port. It WILL do its job once you have it properly filled though. Vaccum will draw the coolant back from the overflow bottle once the engine cools down to ambient temperature. Ethylene glycol is FAR more ELASTIC that pure water. That's to your benefit in several ways, except for mixing high-balls. Note how the FSM instructions I pasted in above tell you to check the coolant level again once the engine is up to temperature. THIS is when you want to set the coolant level: when the stuff is at ~190 F. Be SURE your cap is good for 16 PSI also. This prevents boiling.

x2 for keeping it clean. I just had the original radiator rodded out on Medina, my '71 T-code Monaco, and @71Polara383 tells me that she once again is cooling properly. I'll be driving that car for the first time since the cleaning for several hundred miles this coming weekend at the 2020 CATL, so I'll be able to judge for myself.

There is a (very expensive) OEM alternative, Glen Ray. @saforwardlook has used their services -- see here.

@Trace 300 Hurst has only good things to say about the Spectra Premium CU332. He drive his Hurst in Florida weather with it. To quote him:

"The Spectra and a redo of the entire cooling system -- back flushing the engine, new stat and housing, all new hoses, hidden overflow tank to keep air out of the system, checked for correct pump -- solved the (overheating). Recently I (installed) the correct repro 7-blade and thermal clutch unit (from Tony's) and now I have a quiet, OEM looking 190* system. Love it. Note: I run 16 degrees timing with the dizzy limited to 18 degrees mechanical advance (FBO Mopar Distributor Limiter Plate) and this timing setting also helps with engine heat, gives instant starting, and outstanding low-end power."

I bought a CU332 for Snow White (my '70 N-code Polara 'vert) on the strength of that recommendation and because the CU332 looks almost factory (and because Snow had already lost her original rad at some point in the 30 years when the previous owner had her). When I made the call not to take Snow to Carlisle this year, I lent the still-in-the-box CU332 to Wyatt for Elvira, her T-code sister. Wyatt's experience on the trip from IL to PA and back was that his car ran too hot when outside temps were high but the radiator did fine in cooler climes. I'll see how the SP performs once installed in Snow White, hopefully sometime this month. FWIW, both Elvira's and Snow's engines have been rebuilt.
I have the same radiator in my 66 Polara with a 440. Even when the temps hit around 100 this summer, I had no problems. The only time it even moved slightly past 190, was when I got stuck in a drive through and the outside temp was 100. As soon as I got moving, it was back down to 190. FFW, I paid around $230 for it and I’ve been extremely happy. It’s been in my car for about 5 years now and no issues.

Hey, Cold Case!

How many potential buyers for an 18" x 22" core, like the MOP751, fitted with the same tanks you have on the MOP 753a would it take to make it worth your shop's while to run a batch of these off? I would LOVE to have such a radiator, and suspect a number of other folks who drive mid 60s C bodies with 18x22" carriers would too.
Pretty much one! :) We made the MOP757A 26" C body unit because you guys sent us a radiator to copy. We've been asking for a 22" C-body sample for a pattern.

So, yoke was designed for 22” radiator because the car wasn’t designed for a/c. What I got with the car with was a 26” radiator, so, I got another 26” radiator. Pretty sure that’s why mounting holes don’t line up exactly. Must have been the plan of the previous owner(s) to put in a/c (hence the bracket) and therefore the 26” radiator. So... I leveled the radiator, drilled a couple new holes, and voila, im all set.
that's why i suggested re-coring yours. 22" radiators are tough to find. the setup you have will work fine. just make sure your fan is centered in the shroud and you'll be good.

The fan was a bit towards the bottom of the shroud so I remove the radiator (for the 43rd time) and put the shroud on my spindle sander to remove some of the bottom part of the plastic to prevent the fan blades from making contact with it. Now, it’s “perfect”!

Oh Kaaaay. I can send you all my treasured 1965 2924984 if nobody else has one. Will take this up in PM and email. This one has become rather RARE, though I've seen references to it over the past few years, here and there. They're still sought after....
