1970 Fury III.......The next chapter

There's suddenly about 4 of them on the forum alone...

What's the point of doing all the conversion work to take it to Carlisle and have another one park next to it... So much for originality
You're just not up to the task to do it better than anybody else??? :(
Show'em how it's supposed to be done. :poke:

As others have said "it wouldn't be anything special anyway"

I've had some people interested in the parts, now we'll see if they are willing to pay what it's worth, if not, I'll keep the 4 speed stuff with exception of the pedals for a Roadrunner, after all, it's all 69/70 B body stuff anyway

Who cares what others think? I'd love to have a four speed car, and if you're almost there already, and knowing you're a thrifty guy, it would almost be a shame not too. I'd do a double take looking in the interior, scratch my head, and smile. Don't do it for anyone but yourself.

The good of a 4 speed car is not the look at me factor. They are just plain fun to drive. They are obnoxious. They eliminate about 50% of the driving population. They teach you how to drive. Done right they can achieve better MPG. Many other reasons I can't think of a the moment.
If someone else has one is not one of them. It just means the owner is a little smarter than the rest.
You want "look at me" go get a new pick up truck.
Of course you park that at Carlisle you literally will blend into the hillside of "who gives a f+$&"!

You are my bro.
:thankyou:

I converted my 65 Mustang Coupe to a 4 speed (toploader) from a C-4 and love it. I plan on doing the same to my 65 Ranchero and also want to put in a 4 speed or 5 speed in Elwood…. I haven't seen much on converting from automatics to manuals here, but will look when I get further along in bringing Elwood up to operational status.
I am thinking of installing some Lokar components, hydraulic clutch control and likely power brakes (disc / drum) as Elwood presently has an automatic column shift / 318 manual drum / drum setup.

Wyatt has something I bought for this car at his place for me if they ever open the border again...

I made a trip up towards St. Mary's on Monday to see a gentleman whom my friend put me in touch with.

I ended up barely scratching the surface of what he had in his barn...

Was that rim blow steering wheel sitting on a dirt floor? Nice haul, congrats!
I always liked those front side markers on the 1970 Sport Fury's.

I think that you're over estimating the % that can drive a manual these days. I'm 55 and don't know many that do, or can, drive a manual. Their loss.

Those fenders look like they will clean up good, just surface rust I believe from what I see in the pic's

Pretty close, it was in the hay loft of a barn since around 1980

Some pinholes, but I'd rather repair original rust then body filler and fiberglass

interested in the lower chrome rocker trim or 4 speed stuff if its for sale....

I spent 2 years looking for the rocker trim, I got those parts from that fella under the condition that they would go on my car, I'm not gonna break my word to him.

For now the 4 speed stuff is gonna sit until I decide.

The search for a better stub is on. I think I could get this one in better shape, but if I can find a good one I'll go that route.. It's not rotten, it's bent from someone lifting the car wrong.

I need to evaluate and see what this car needs now that I have it on my own premises, it's a backburner project at best, I have a 73 to finish this winter, but my storage guy was nagging me about space, so I agreed to pull Atleast one out to free up the space.

Ideally my plan this year was to buy some property and put up a building, but unfortunately this year has been hard on me financially thanks to the China virus and working flat rate...

Yes, thank you China. They are they worst cyber thieves for patents and tech in the US and we've transferred all our manufacturing there. How do they reward us: Covid19

Since the start of this BS I've been more diligent about checking where things are manufactured, China can try and break me financially with their bullshit virus, but they aren't going to take over my home and shop
