68 Fury III Resurrection in MA

Today I took a break from house Reno’s and worked on the frame. I got it back about a month ago. Since i had some reinforcements plates welded on....it was time to clean it up again. Grind/Sanded (PIA), primed and painted. Used Eastwood Platinum For the primer and Extreme Chassis Black (satin) for the frame. Needs another coat...but a productive day just the same.

Looking nice.

Productive day today. Installed basement windows, mowed lawn and got second coat of chassis black on frame. Looks great! Tomorrow I will spray inside of frame with eastwood internal frame coating. Can’t wait. Then ready for install of suspension parts......after I help out my in-laws.

Man....is it mid October already? Time flies. Sorry - Not much done on the Fury in recent weeks. Life got into the way. Built a shed to empty a garage bay. If I made 5 feet bigger I could have put the Fury inside. Lol. Been working on the Basement fit-out so that I have a quiet place to work (home office). Replaced basement windows, ran power and installed 90% of drywall. Finish that up next and will mud/tape joints. Doesn’t appear we will back in the office anytime soon.... In the meantime - also collecting parts as I see them come up. I collected a trunk pan, side extension, and rear cross member Now to use for future install. Still need to drive and pick up a rear end shell. Front suspension parts are painted, refreshed, laid out and ready to go on....just waiting for me. It will be another couple of weeks. This may be a install one part at a time per day process. Stay tuned. Enjoy the autumn and hope you are all staying safe and healthy.

I know the feeling. I just had to start remodeling the spare bathroom. Have to start prepping to sell. It's a constant battle...house work or car work!

AMEN to that!

Since March my job consists of being on zoom calls most of the day / every day and travel to visit my project sites. I will say that these projects have kept me busy at home and my mind off covid. Add paying for kids starting college. YIKES! so at night i am totally spent. In order to keep some progress - I have been working on one piece at a time before bed if I have the energy....even if that means cleaning gunk off a part. I was hoping to have the frame ready, engine pulled and refreshed by end of fall. Frame is ready, need to install refurbished suspension and brakes. I had hoped to have refreshed engine placed on it before install. I haven't pulled the engine yet. I don't think that will happen for a bit - next month if I am lucky. I may pull the engine and send it out for a refresh to save time....then pull and install the replacement frame while I wait for the engine. I hoped to be on pace with yours ... I have some catching up to do.....so take your time Josh. LOL

March now. Mild 38 degrees today. Shed, basement, kitchen and sunroom project are all now complete. Kids in college recovered from COVID. Back to the Fury. Frame inside the shed during the snow months on jack stands. This weekend, In no particular order, I put on the upper control arms, lower control arms, ball joint and spindles onto the refurbished frame. Snug but not torqued. Struts , steering linkage next. Made a list of small things needed. That’s all for my free moment - then had a gin and tonic.

We'll get 'em done eventually. I've remodeled the spare bathroom, did work in the master bathroom. Ready to put the condo on the market in the next 2 weeks and buy our first house. Haven't had much time for the Plymouth either. I keep saying I need one more full day of the Fury! Will probably end up needing a week the way things go. haha. But don't worry, you're not alone!!

Hi Eric. Small things such as deciding to replace the bump stops (upper and lower), replacing brake hoses for calipers....things you reconsider when you start putting them back on. :) I did pick up a fender for a patch 2 summers ago. I will eventually need quarters to repair lower edges....but I can wait on that. I need to stay focused on the frame, suspension and motor refresh. Then move to the rear....gas tank, fuel lines, refresh drums, pumpkin, seals, bearings, springs, shocks and wheels. After that - will take a drive around New England and show off the daily driver. LOL

good luck on the house move. Family is priority so the fury will wait for you. Good news - I n the short time you have had your Fury you definitely made some great progress. Carpet coming soon too correct? Couple set backs here and there but all moving in a positive direction....and it looks great.

I understand, just let me know if you change your mind. It is the right side fender if I remember, not sure what side you got. Just figured I'd offer it to you first before I most likely put it on here. Would you happen to want or need a plain dash with no guages? It is green but you could paint it up and it is an air conditioning dash. If not I understand just figured I would again offer it to you first

Fun day today. Visited “High Octane Classics” in Auburn MA with a friend. LOTS of classic cars - American and European. You will find Mopars, chevys, fords, along with ferraris, Porsche, and Alfa’s. They also restore mopars....frame off restos. Lots of them - mostly A,B, and E’s but will work on C’s if you bring it and you are willing to pay it. I did get to see a 427 Shelby Cobra, some Cuda convertibles, challengers, polars, road runner, Daytona super bee, etc. Fun time.

So I got motivated to work on my front end late this afternoon - got the struts on and replaced bump stops. Then realized I forgot to get the new shocks. DOH! On order now. Next will be assembling steering linkage and tie rods. Fun times.....and yes....got to test drive a 88 Ferrari Testerossa with my friend (he was shopping). Awesome!

i heard that was a good place to go

I was fortunate to be allowed to tour thier warehouses on site. I was a kid in a candy store. Quite the collection of cars and trucks- again - various types, euro and domestic, cars and trucks. Many old school Broncos w removable tops in various stages of restoration (if anyone is interested).
