Came across this beautiful car and thought it worth posting.

'chrysler' | 1965 CHRYSLER 300 2 DOOR HARDTOP | Wild Rose Auction Services Ltd.

An auction in Canada with lots of pics and video for it. I love the colour inside and out, even has matching blue walls ! If I had the cash, it will probs sell for, I'd buy it, seems to have a value last year of $26k canadian.

That's a nice car and it works out to about $19.8k USD.

The "appraisal" doesn't set well though. Having read a few, IMHO, the verbiage just doesn't seem right. Incorrect grammar ("engine ran good") jumps out along with the quotes from the owner and "for the year of the vehicle" comment. Usually, from my experience, the car is inspected on its own with not a lot of input from the owner. It's either bogus or from a really bad appraising company.

Still a really nice car based on the pics, but I wouldn't put any value on the appraisal.

Since it's an auction and appears to be without reserve, it should be interesting to see what this car brings. I'm thinking $14-15K USD tops. If goes for less, I expect to see a flipper price of $20k in a couple weeks.

...

I'll jump in here. Bill, the appraiser, is pretty well respected here for his work. He does a complete and thorough inspection of the car, and does ask the owner questions about things he can't readily see, as well as service records. This the first one page report I have seen though.

You'd never prove it by that appraisal. That is the worst one I've ever read.

Most Canadian appraisals are for insurance purposes only and have zero to do with resale value. They are based on what it would cost to put the vehicle back in the condition it was before the claim.

The harder it is to source parts like say a quarter panel for this 300, the higher the appraisal will be.

Not originally a Canadian car with the CAP air cleaner. There's some history there that's not known or being disclosed. Two speedos in its history?

A very nice looking car all the same, but odd. All those options, and no clock.

What's with what looks like primer on the driver's side of the cowl near the hood hinge?

The trunk carpet and panels look almost too new to be original, but again, perhaps nothing was ever put in the trunk and the car was never wet...

That would/could make it a California car from what I've been reading lately. It isn't really a "CAP" system, but I believe the California cars got the closed PCV system. The OP in the thread linked below is in Mexico, with what I think is a California car, but I could be wrong.

Some reading. 1965 CAP (clean air package) Air Cleaner Decal?

Engine isn't red either.

True that - however I have found that in rare instances some Canadian cars were assembled without red motors. Particularly cars sold in western provinces. My 66 T&C has a turquoise engine, and yet sold new at a Regina dealer.

What plant was it built in?

66 300 Sports sold in Canada weren't built in Canada so they all had turquoise engines.

Kevin

Not Windsor. I believe it was Jefferson, but I can't be sure without looking at my notes.

Update - confirmed Jefferson-built. The VIN has # 3 as the plant code, but the last 6 digits (which are the serial number) is correct for Canadian market cars, and starts with 1 instead of 2 for USA market.

I'm not sure those are bluewall tires, they almost look like new WW that still have bluing on them. Esp the spare, the sidewall looks to have never been cleaned or seen outside weather.

The appraisal was specifically requested this way, does seem to fit with the comments about insurance/replacement cost. Appraisal comments about condition and mileage 'for the year' are ludicrous - any car this age that still exists is in good condition for the year.

Missing trim both sides at the front. Wonder why? Lost at the body shop?

Looks like a decent and honest car, though, that should make someone happy unless the bidding goes higher.

$16.750k with day and a half to go.

Yes maybe just tape covering WW's but seen red walls so are blues available?

Those blue walls wash right off. Any new tires I've bought with white walls or white letters are coated with that thin blue stuff. Been that way forever.
