I have a vacuum canister in my passenger front fender that I’m not sure what it does. The car is a real project, and the lines are unhooked. I was able to chase one to the engine side into the firewall, but there the mystery begins. I couldn’t find info in my Service Manual. My real question is I don’t know which line goes in what hole, but given this is my first time working on it, I thought I’d start at the beginning. Thks.

If it is on the passenger front fender well, It is the reserve tank for the vacuum accessories, most notably the A/C, heater and defroster controls. One lead goes to the vacuum delay valve mounted on the air box under the hood. The other vacuum lead goes thru a small hole in the dash under the air box and is hooked to tubing under the dash.

Thanks for help. I found canister as slave circuit vac res in attached picture from Service Manual. Here’s to getting lucky the related check valve works to limit vac leak.

Did they have a vacuum trunk release option in 1968 ?

Vacuum trunk release was offered in '67-'68 as an option. First offered on the '64 Imperial and other high end models.
