Went to an old school junk yard today

It was kinda like North Carolina’s version of Cold War Motors. Lots of Forward Mopars. Pre forward looks Mopars & a few post war. 50 or so Caddy’s, 30 plus old Buick’s. Over 250 cars. At first he wouldn’t let me take pics buy after I spent some money he let me take a few. Folks it’s a treasure trove of classic cars but here’s the problem. A family member owned the junkyard & has passed away. The siblings have decided to sell the property to a developer & the cars are going to be crushed next month. He’s having a tough time with vandals too. I got some parts today & he thinks he can move 50 cars to another piece of land that belongs to him but he likes Caddy’s & Forward look cars so that’s what he’s going to save. The rest will be crushed & that’s a damn shame. My schedule is tight. I’ll do my best to get back in there before they crush.

Ok there’s 2 Austin’s in the yard that look complete. Two door sedans with a trunk. A Hillman 2 door wagon ( I’m interested) & 2 French Simcas. Both two door sedans. Pretty complete but one was rotted frame in half. A Fury wagon I made a deal on & have to go back & get.

This Chrysler Limo had a Hemi. Belonged to the US Army. He said he was told General Douglas McAurther rode in this car. It’s spoken for but I’m next in line if that deal falls through
 
Unfortunately that's be coming a too common tale. We've had 3 locally owned salvage...no treasure yards...go to relatives that only care about the $$ and selling off and crushing the cars so the land can be sold to developers. It's a sad situation!

How about a Packard Parisian ? 4 door. Lots of chrome. V8 engine that’s been exposed to the elements. No hood or fender. I think a 56. Also 56 ? Plymouth Savoy. Maybe a 55. Good grille & some emblems. Lots of gen 2 60’s Buick Nail heads. One was a Wildcat convertible. I think a 69/70 BIG Pontiac wagon. Good shape. Grand Safari ? 68 ? Ford Ranchero. Bullet nose Stude 4 door. Crushed roof.
 
A very common story nowadays!
Original owner never quite likes to sell the old cars.
He's going to fix them some day.
If does sell them,they hold out for top dollar.
Passes away suddenly.
Realitives then think they are Barret Jackson cars.
Shady real estate agent steps in and convinces relatives they will all be rich if he lets him sell real estate.
But first they have to clear property of all old cars.
The offspring of original owner want nothing to do with old cars.
Relatives give up (valuable) dismantling license. Call car crusher company.
All too late to get word out to collectors.
New owner of property complains ground contamination and knocks $ off price.
Any of this sound familiar?

This is a '55 Packard Patrician... The 56s had bigger eyebrows, wider set bumper guards and the double trim continued down the quarters to the tail lights. The V8 was a 352 for '55 and a 374 for '56. For the '55 Packard Clipper Super/Panama, they used a 320ci that was also used in the V8 Nash in '55.
