Are there any other options?

I need a booster for the 66 Monaco which I swapped to front discs. I've seen countless amounts of recommendations to just have an original dual diaphragm Bendix rebuilt. I would love to do that if I didnt wait so long. I will give in if I have to, but dont really want to wait on it.

Is there any other option at all that would work? I've heard you can buy a reman B body booster, alter the mounting holes in the firewall, and alter the rod length. Is that true? Are there any reman or freshly produced boosters or anything that I could just purchase and install? Originality is not a concern.

PS i will buy a rebuilt and functioning booster off of you if you have one

I found a booster on eBay from Pirate Jack and others that is a dual 8" booster. They offer a B-body one of course, then another one marketed for C bodies that comes with a hefty amount of warning that modification is necessary. I was thinking of sending them a message to ask for details on the modifications. I don't mind a few things, but if it is too extensive, I'll just stick with drums.

As has been noted on here previously, a dual 8" is smaller and less boost than a dual 9", but one must consider that it'd still be more boost than a single 9", so perhaps not perfect but moving in the right direction.

There is one other option: hydro boost. There is a company making kits for cars that are ready to go, you do need a new power steering pump for the extra port to run it, but it would be the largest amount of boost. Certainly wouldn't look stock though.

That thing seems nice. Just sent them a message

Let me know what they say, please. I'm going to eventually have the front power drums converted to discs when I hit that particular system. It'll be interesting to know what kind of mods, if any, need to be made to use their 9 inch power brake boosters on our C Bodies.

Will do! I’m expecting to hear back Monday at the earliest so hang on

Dylan,

I like the idea of using Made in U.S. components all the way, but if you want ADVICE about Tuff Stuff components, you might go to Jegs or Summit, or Speedway, the Big 3 shops who vend for them. I personally would recommend Pirate Jack for now. I got a (copy) Bendix dual pot MC off them this past spring, installed it this summer, and am very pleased with it. Mind you, I prefer staying with all drum braking as I don't like relying on a booster, which one MUST if using disk brakes.

I also hate 2nd hand data, and probably would try the source first too, but I've found more often than not that manufacturers aren't well prepared to communicate directly with the public. I makes some difference what sort of disc brakes you plan to drive with that booster too. The volume or "throw" of various disc brake systems varies quite a bit. Check up on that first.
