On Nov-12-20 at 14:57:55 PST, the seller added the following information:\
As questions come in I will add revisions as necessary to help others.

The car shifts in and out of all gears smoothly.

It does back up and drives forward smoothly as well with what little amount I had to move it.

As mentioned in the description, the soft plug is leaking and therefore cannot be driven.

The damage to the left front end is minor and next to the turn signal.

You can see the difference between the 2 turn signal. The passenger side is straight. The driver's side is not.

Please read the full description before asking questions.

The 3rd line from the end of the description should read:

If you do not email me, you will not get a 2nd chance offer should it be available.

Damn! And I'm going to be driving thru Steubenville tomorrow morning . . . !

@jollyjoker -- if this is on your way and it is not too much of a hassle (looks like it's gonna be rainy), yes, that'd be great! I like what I see in the ad and would be grateful if you could stop by and check out this car. Basically, check out that the description is accurate, assess the rust situation (which is claimed to be great except for that one spot shown in a pic), ideally take some photos of the underside, the rear wells, and other usual spots for rust -- and check out the damage on the driver side front.

@67newport -- thank you for the offer, let us see if JJ can make it there as it is on his way tomorrow. If he cannot, then I'll PM you.

it took my breath away when i saw it. if it was green i'd be selling everything i could. hope it goes to a good home!!

Sorry for any miscommunication . . . already thru there earlier this morning. Rolled down 22, across the bridge, and into WV . . .
Yes, this looks like a sweet one . . .

I had a long conversation with the owner yesterday, and numerous text/email exchanges before that. When one buys a car, one also "buys" the seller: FWIW, based on what I have heard and seen, I trust him.

He sent me 100+ high-resolution photos of the car. He sent photos that the 12-photos limit on eBay would not let him upload on the auction site, as well as photos of every single area that I had asked him to show me. He and I also spent 35 minutes doing a video inspection of the vehicle.

My one concern is the freeze plugs, as what I have seen suggests that the cooling system may have to be overhauled. Otherwise, the car appears very solid with zero rust that I could see other than the one spot on the rear passenger door sill that he showed (there is very minor surface rust starting at the bottom of both rear fenders, but it looks more like road rash than rust). I believe the mileage to be original.

Based on the information I have gathered, and the fact that the 1970 Sport Suburban is one of my top-3 fuselage C-body wagons, I have started bidding on the car. High bid was at $6,900 the last time I checked.

We shall see what happens. I'll be happy if I get the car -- but then again, if I do, then I'll be even further away from my long-term ideal number of three or four fusies. So I won't mind at all if I don't win the auction, as anyways this car will likely not be one of the four "long-term keepers". All I hope is that the car goes to a good home.

Attached for records is the fender tag.
