440/727 - $500 - Poulsbo, Washington

FB Description

Complete 440 engine and 727 transmission ran when pulled been sitting for a few years now. Had oil dumped down it to help keep it from getting too bad so the insides probable won’t be too bad. Don’t have the time to build an engine right now. Asking 500 for engine and trans but obo is always good.

Out of curiosity, what is the date code on that engine, it should be on the passenger side above the oil pan and below the exhaust manifold

Interesting power steering pulley, never seen one like that stock on a 440
The 69 Polara 500 that I just got has that pully,
The fan on the engine in this listing has the part number printed on it, I believe that is 69 and older, 70 up was stamped into the metal.

A 1970 New Yorker 440 should be blue.

Being a turquoise 440 with freeze plugs in the end of the heads should make a 1968 or 1969 model year. If it's original paint, which it seems like it is.

Not many forged crank 440s with all their accessories pop up for sale, and at a very reasonable price, I'd buy it if it was local.

For the scrap.pile, unless needed for 100point resto. Only good power steering pump is a Saginaw.

Can't be all that bad, they used them on the Hemi's. I've put many troublefree miles on a Federal pump myself too.

Their capacity is low, easy to overwhelm the pump when manuvering quickly. You say you do not drive that aggressive? That's fine, but when the **** hits the fan and all hell goes wrong in front of you, that will be the time you overtax the pump and get slow or notchy steering (when you need it most). They are not all bad, but not my choice.
