Dim headlights

Almost finished. I need 3- 3/8 locking terminals.
First I changed the fuesable link plug from clear to the black ones used elsewhere in the harness.

then peeled the harness wrap back and routed the signal wires right to the relay terminals and ran new color coded wires down to the head light plugs. Also added a direct ground to the relay. I could have likely relied on my harness ground over by the horns, but figured I should have one closer to the relay. I think I will install the relays under the battery tray. Will hopefully find the terminals tomorrow.
Almost finished. Harness re-wrapped.

Update on my relay install. I finally got the right connectors. They are not a 3/8 terminal as I stated above. They are a Packard 59 (5/16”) locking terminal.
Installed and tested the lights. They are about twice as bright with the relays.
same bulbs.

I knew all along the relay upgrade was always brighter. The intensity meter confirms that.
Your intensity meter must be an antique yet very cool!

It is part of my Hoppy Headlight aiming kit I bought of E-bay a couple of months ago. The kit looks barely used. I did have to re- attach a mirror which was a challenge, clean the mirrors and re calibrate, but well worth it for around $80 shipped.

E-bay searches.
Fits the headlights perfectly. They even look like the one in the service manual. I used the instructions in the service manual to calibrate and aim. Much easier than drawing pictures on the wall 20 -25 ft away.
I went back and looked, Actually with shipping it was $100.

I added relays to my 65 Windsor, replaced the inner lights high beam with hi/low bulbs and a third relay to run the low with switch like driving lights. The change was like night and day. Definitely a worthy update.

Definitely a must do on these cars. Takes the load out of the switch and places it where it should be... on the other side of the fire wall. If you haven't done so yet, do the ammeter by-pass as well. Sure it messes up the originality of the vehicle, but so does a massive ball of flames.

I'll take the extra wire any day over the charcoal look.

For Shure and volt, temp, oil, vac gauges added also. Good idea to know what is going on. Get a kick out of the cold light so kept it functional too.
