Welp, I killed my 383 Crate engine rebuilt?

It's a super big deal if you have a manual trans car and there's no pilot bushing at the back of the crank. There's ways around that, but extra work. I vaguely remember that you have to cut off the front of the input shaft and install an insert bearing at the rear of the automatic crank.
Now that it's running I guess you can drive it onto the trailer and wait on repair.
You nailed it. I was building a NICE 74 B200 van. I was intending to put the overdrive manual in it...that pilot bushing/input shaft put the whole project on hold...I was 2000 miles away and trusted people I shouldn't have trusted. Live and burn.

I USED THOSE GUYS ON A 318 just a few years ago. I brought them a MANUAL crank 318 and they gave me back an AUTO crank motor...You may think it's no big deal but for a $4500 rebuild...I deserve better. Won't be using them again. GRRRRRR.
I was living in east TN at the time and I hauled my own good core to them...naw...they screwed me...and they were totally "who cares" when I complained. I loved their shop..great old-skool feel...but they've lost that lovin' feeling. Got me?

I use local people. That way I can check in regularly on what they're doing.
I never trust lovin feelings, whether it's Hall and Oates or a machine shop. I'd rather work with an ******* who does the job right.

This guy builds a 440 engine and he is in Phoenix AZ. May be close enough to visit. His Ebay price is $5995 with free shipping. Since Ebay fees are 10% and shipping around 300-400 maybe you could get for around $5000. I know nothing about him and do not recommend him . Just thought I would throw it in.
