1966 Chrysler Newport New Engine 383 to 440

Sharp car, man. Once you get the little stuff sorted, a running video would be much appreciated.

Those m body service rims, eh? Frikkin gold.

I’ve got two videos of cam break in but not sure how to post them. I’ll have some more video of it running next weekend when we dial in the timing and the idle speed.

I bought those wheels new off summit racing. 15x8’s all the way around.

A pair of HP ex manifolds would be good in there sometime with that cam/carb set up. I have RR manifolds on mine with a cam. Nice car

Beautiful engine.
I love the notepad for the history. Someone really cared.

I agree! The notebook is awesome! So fun to read through the notes left behind. The writer of the notes is still alive. He’s 88. Can’t wait to drive the car over to his house and show it to him.

Car looks great. Nice to see you left most of it alone and didn't make a bunch of tacky, stupid modifications.

Motor is done! Timed, tuned and ready for exhaust. Going to lower the front about an inch, dual 2.5 inch flowmaster exhaust, brakes need adjustment and carb needs a little more tuning. So close to being a driver!

Check out my Instagram at @mclovinmoto for some videos of it running.

Exhaust is going on today. 2.5 inch dual exhaust, 40 series flowmaster mufflers with an X-pipe.

I actually had the same set up on the 68 Monaco I posted earlier in this thread. I loved it .. only thing that sucked was highway speed at 4 am in the winter on the way to work. That friggin drone and the super dry heat in that car would nearly put me to sleep every morning.

Not too much to worry about though, gun it under an overpass and your senses pick right up.

Did it drone a lot on the highway? I had virtually the same setup on a 66 Plymouth Belvedere in high school and I don't remember much drone at highway speeds. I have had drone with flowmasters on a newer Charger with an over drive transmission and cylinder deactivation. It sounded awful at highway speeds.

Hopefully the drone isn't too bad. Most of my driving will be in town but I don't want it to be totally obnoxious on the highway.

I wouldn’t say that it’s totally obnoxious... I’m pretty sensitive to sound.
Also, at the time, I was geared up a little higher than yours will be (I think?) and I had basically taken the interior out aside from the headliner, dash and front bench was running headers with manual dropouts. I’d changed most of that back before I sold it but didn’t have it on the highway after that. I don’t think you’ll have any issues running your configuration.

Sweet Newport. I had my eye on one that I didn't get, two door coupe in green, about eight years ago. Still thinking about it.
