Long ago sold I think. But i saw one come up on me, i turned, and then figured out it was one of these.

Other than hauling fifth wheel stuff, what else would one do with one of these?

hmm .. still around. been around over a dozen years. think i have seen 3 in person in all that time.

To be clear, i see F650's all the time like this one, as well as flatbed tow trucks, etc..

I am talking about an F650 Pickup truck, as well as ones like 300rag showed draggin' big-a** trailers.

Seems to me Ford lets a "body builder" (what we referred to them as when I was in the car biz) trick out a F-650 chassis to their vehicle tastes (tow truck, dump truck, pickup, limo-bus, box truck, school bus, whatever) as I cannot image a mass producer doing anything else.

That first one you posted is useless as a 5th wheel hauler, unless your trailer is on a 12" lift. Those box sides are way too high. That Supercruzer was equipped with a 5th wheel, gooseneck, and 10,000lb hitch.

Top: Boeing XB-38. A B-17 fitted with 12 cylinder Allison V-1710s. 1 built. Flew in May/June of ‘43.
Bottom: Boeing XB-39. A B-29 fitted with experimental 24 cylinder Allison V-3420s (two V-1710s yoked together). 1 built. Flew December of ‘44. Neither went into production because in each case, the modest increase in performance didn’t warrant interrupting production scheduling to make the necessary changes to the assembly lines.
