FB Description

Needs transmission. 727 440 runs good Has some rust around rear window.was a vinyl top car. The car is very straight maybe a couple of door dings and a couple of dings on the roof. $2100 but will entertain fair offers.

it looks really solid save for that one spot on the roof, but hard to tell if it's rusted through

If a FB user could get the fender tag for records, that'd be great. Nice car, not my preferred color combo (I suspect triple-green).

judging from the absence of a New Yorker script on the front fender molding, it must be a base model with manual seats and windows, like mine

It is. While it looks like a small repair area, you won't be able to properly repair unless you take out the back window and headliner. Nice looking car nonetheless. Get it. I have hubcaps for it ... and road wheels if you prefer

Given that other emblems on the car say "New Yorker" and the grille and tail lights confirm that, what does having the presence of "New Yorker" script on the front moldings have to do with how well equipped the vehicle is if that is what you mean by base model - it certainly is not a base model since it has a/c, speed control and it looks like power windows (not entirely sure on the latter, but I think I see a switch for them on the passenger door)???

There were only two NYer models in 1972: New Yorker, and New Yorker Brougham. This one is a "base" NYer, not a Brougham -- cue the simple armrests (the Brougham model's armrests are much more comfortable in my experience with Buttercup, my '72 NYB coupe), the seats, the outside trim, etc.

Power windows were standard on NYBs and optional on plain NYers. This car indeed has P31 power windows, as noted by @saforwardlook

The script to which @oliver is referring is this one -- only seen on the NYB, not the NYer (scan courtesy of the Hamtramck Registry, highlight mine).

Thanks for the information as I was not aware of that subtle difference. I guess I have been much too focused on the pure fuselage cars too much to note the changes to the 72/73 models that gently led the way towards the formal "styling".

I stand corrected. Sorry.

So why don't you just STFU?
So member @oliver (1) correctly and helpfully points out a feature unique to his sub-model and (2) graciously agrees that he was incorrect on optional equipments for the car for sale in this thread, thereby helping correct the record — and you tell him to S...? Good morning to you, I guess? :stop: Or are you both from NY and I just don’t get it?

You are absolutely right and I apologize to everyone on this board. Ollie and I know each other and he knows I didn't mean anything bad; but I can see how it can be perceived that way. That was quite lame on my part. Again, Sorry!

Asking price for CH23T2C293909 is down $100 to $2k for this GF3 NYer. Note that this car was built without a vinyl top, just like @oliver's, although the FB photos suggest that one was added at a later stage.

PS: this car looks like a carbon copy of @Hotrodharbor's GF3 2dr.

The asking price is down another Ben Franklin bill, to $1.9k. Here is the fender tag for records: as I noted last month, the car was triple-green with painted GF3 (not vinyl) top. It came with the standard (E3F6 to be precise) cloth and vinyl split-back bench seat. Fairly late build (June 16 SBD). Many thanks to the member who forwarded it.

That must have been added at the dealer. I cant imagine why somebody would buy a no vinyl top car then add the vinyl. Unless they got a deal on the car. Adding the trim and clips would be a pain if you could not order it all.

Either way I'm glad its not a few hundred cheaper and a couple hundred miles closer. I want a 72 but I want them all.

Damn roof rust. Its the worst.
