Just a Couple of Photos of what is a Uniquely Land of OZ vehicle in one Case.
(1960-64 AP3 Chrysler (Royal) Wayfarer Utility. 250ci Flat Six / 313-318ci Push Button T/F)
And a Rather Nice Rendition of our Version of an American "A" Body.
Regards, Tony.M

I had my heart set on seeing a fuselage when I opened this thread.:poke::lol:

The only part that looks familiar to me on the Ute (apart from the flat-head engine) is the actual speedometer, that looks like a 1960 Plymouth Fury unit.

I like the later, 60's versions better, but I gotta say that you would be the only guy with one of either one at Cars and Coffee.

It's funny, the US has never embraced the the car/truck combo. There were El Caminos and Rancheros, but they never had a lot of success in the market. The front drive Rampage never caught on, although I liked them, and @BIGBARNEYCARS has a really nice one.

I have two of the AU utes, love'em. One is a 6/3 on the tree and the other is a 360/727 conversion. Both right hand drive.

Thanks for posting those pictures. The first two pictures indicate, to me, how much better the 1956 Plymouths would have looked with the stacked headlights. One of the later Valiant utes used to show up at Mopar Nats, which made me smile.

An interesting combination of Chrysler Corp styling cues. Quite stylish.

Utes . . . the perfect vehicle to use to attend toy drives, with the back heaped-over with toys!

Happy Holidays!

The desoto ute is awesome. There is one in the states by a guy named Lee exline. He's probably the authority on all things ute.

I agree that they didn’t have a gigantic following. However, they now catch people’s attention.

I think they might have been available in Canada and of course Australia and probably Brazil. Too bad we couldn't get them here in the states. Closest thing Mopar had was the Rampage in the 80's.

For what it's worth guyz. Those little Rampage and Scamp Pickups Mother Mopar rated them all @ 1152# Haul Weight sooooo 1/2 ton+, lol. I did test out my Scamp with a fully Dressed Out 440 in the bed and the 2.2L 84 HP 'lil Side Winder didn't like it so much so we found a later model 2.5L TI and re-built it into a TII and it now putz out rite at 200HP and runz like ah cat that's had hiz *** sand papered and then had turpentine splashed on it. Me way happy now, Jer

I had no idea they were rated that high.

I passed on one many years ago. The price was right, the car was right, I liked it etc. One problem.... Only two seats and I had two kids. Everything I owned had to be able to haul around all 4 of us.

I still wish I had bought it...

My Ranger is perfect size for me. A small truck that I can use as a car... I would prefer a car that I can use as a small truck, but that's not happening.

Is this one of yours? I saw it for the first time at Carlisle last year, and then again at the Eastern Mopar Classic at MDIR this year.
