Long Way From Florida

Nice. Great how it kept popping up in your life, the engine... some things are just meant to be. We will talk more, hope to see it someday.

Wow what a great story and true life good ending finding that police car and the big engine. I hope to see more thread on the rebuild too for future interest as I’m going to be starting the front end rebuild on my 67 Monaco 500 in the new year and ideas and threads help me every time I see n learn of tricks to these old cars. If anyone has knowledge where I might find the Monaco 500 wide anodized aluminum moldings in decent shape, would be the find of my life and I would reward $$ the successful finder as that’s kinda what’s holding me up not mention of a few other trims!

Hey mate, I shipped the plates to you today, you should see them early next week.
Recieved the tags today, thanks again Gary!

What does Special "Mask" mean, maybe something with shipping?
I believe special mask is in regards to how the 2-tone was applied. Like the roof, some other panels may have been painted white too. Theres definitely white painted on other panels at some point in its life. Whether that was done by Plymouth or the original agency is to be determined.

I wish I had more detail but this is probably what the car looked like new. There is a hole towards the rear of the roof like where the gumball is mounted.

To follow up on the "Special Mask" stamp I believe its due to the lower half of the car being painted green. Then the car was "masked" and the top of the trunk/quarters along with the front doors painted the same shade as the VO2/999 roof. The original green paint is clearly visible inside the doors & trunk and the 999 white is painted on the outside.

When the car was decommissioned and sold off they painted the trunk & doors green.

With @robio's recent purchase, that is two 1971 police Fury (furies?) rescued in the last month. Congrats @c-barge !

For those interested in the saga of PK41U1D182975 -- see this 2018 thread and this 2017 thread. The tag is here.

Well, it was already 'rescued' lol, when Gary and his neighbour very kindly collected it for me when I bought it in November 2018. Doubt very much that it would still exist if they hadn't assisted. So glad that Charles purchased the car, and am very much looking forward to seeing it resurrected. It was a tough decision to make, to let it go, but it was the most sensible thing to do.
