I have an NOS wheel opening molding that I believe is left rear for a 67 or 68 Monaco. Part number on hand written tag is 3004401 but I can't find that number in my books. Can anyone confirm? I'm going to list it for sale but I want to be sure what I'm listing first. Thanks.

"3" series part numbers started with the 1970 decade vehicles. "2" series part numbers were 1960 decade vehicles. "1" series part numbers were 1950 decade vehicles. Chrysler's general rule, but a "2" series part number (for example) could be used well into the 1980s, if the part didn't change numbers later on. Seems like some of the '66 Imperial cars still had some chassis part numbers that dated back to the later 1950s, when that torsion bar/leaf spring chassis was put into production?

I have seen some "29_____" numbers used for the first time on 1970 models, though. Then it seems that things started to be modified a bit in the 1980s?

Just some observations,

My ‘68 parts book shows it to be for Polara. The Monaco had different more ornate trim along the bottom.

Thanks. Always wary when I see handwritten part numbers. Ma Mopar didn't do us any favors by constantly superseding

Left rear wheel lip moulding with lower sill plate trim. Looks like what is on mine. ‘68

Many ‘68 & ‘69 part numbers supersede to a part number beginning with a 3.
