I was scrapping at old friends house and he gave me about 10 vintage Chrysler A/C compressors. I have about another 10 here already, maybe more if I start looking.
Is there anybody who buys or rebuilds these as cores? Or are they just scrap.

I don't know of anyone rebuilding then, but FWIW, it can't be that hard. There might be a market for year correct style compressors that are ready to go. Just thinking out loud here...

Compressors with 3 mounting holes are hard to find - so don't scrap those. Almost all the rebuilts out there are the slightly later 2 hole units, and while they fit and function in place of a 3 hole comp, the brackets for the 3rd hole can't be bolted up.

I would not scrap them. They are really hard to come by anymore as stated by Ross. I would contact Original Auto Air and see if they would have interest in buying all of them. They rebuild them but finding good cores these days is difficult. Here is a contact number in Florida:

Classic Auto Air's Original Air Group

They are likely closed most of the holiday going on right now, but they are a really helpful bunch of folks and very knowledgeable too.

I know there was an outfit in Vegas looking for cores, a buddy of mine needed a rebuilt one and couldn't find one anywhere. So he sent in a number of cores, made money, and got a rebuilt core. I can get the name if you need it.

Thanks, something on west coast would be preferred for shipping purposes.

I have a bunch of these boat anchors too....
@Ross Wooldridge when was the change made to 3 hole?

Shipping cores has got to take the profit out of it. Trading them at a show the vendor attends could make sense.
