I needed to replace the top lift cylinders on my car and chose to replace the hose while I was in there.

The hoses on the car were about 80" (40/40), a little long.
The hoses I got from Hydro Electric were about 112" (56/56), ridiculously long.

The factory had two different numbers for the c-bodies
So I assume the lengths were different and possibly the fittings.

A&B bodies shared the same numbers as each other but different than the C-body

Anybody have some original hoses or know the lengths?

I got an entire system I bought last year. Pump hoses cylinders all hooked up and in a box. I can lay it out in the driveway and put a tape to it for reference pics if that would help. I need the attachment pins & cotter pins so I never installed it. Your pics were a huge help in seeing how they set in there by the way. So thanks for that. -Ed

If they appear to be original that would be great, also if the ends are all 90s or straight, or mixed.

Thanks,

Yes it was ripped out complete by a member. He gave me everything even the harness and switch. Let me know if you need any of the electrical because my switch and wiring is fine, it’s yours free for the asking if you need it.

Love the new ride by the way!

Were the different lengths routed differently or did they change suppliers for the cylinders? VIN break points?

Just curious.

The pump is high,
One hose mounts to the rear of the pump and goes to the bottom of the cylinders
One hose mounts to the front of the pump and goes to the top of the cylinders
That alone would be about 10-12 inches per side difference between the upper and lower hoses

I would assume a C-Body is bigger than a B or A-Body so the C-Body hoses would be longer than those.
This was consistent for 67-69 (all I checked),
In 1970/71 ALL used the same one hose assemble for one, the longer C-Body assemble from the earlier years.

So from 67-71 there were 3 part numbers for the hose assemblies.
  • 2422143 A/B-Bodies Upper (67-69)
  • 2573658 All Lower (67-69) (1970/71 all upper and lower)
  • 2573657 C-Bodies Upper (67-69)
I do not know the length of these assemblies or the orientation of the fittings.

Here’s the set up I bought to put in my 69 Fury.

I drew a pic to make it easy. I used my pumb line to measure the length. I got approx 40.5” for all four. Maybe + or - 2/10 tops. I tried not to stretch the string so I think I’m pretty close. I’ll include pics so you can check my work LoL!!!

Thanks ed

My drawing is going by where the wires are on mine.

Here’s pics of the mark on my line coming pretty close every time and those old hoses are kinda curly.

You can see they’re all close to same length differences might just be my string. I bet they just looped the extra and jammed it in there. 40.5 inches is about it maybe add a pinch but I can’t see where it would matter.

Thanks,

Do you recall what year this was from?

The lengths are the same as what I had on the car, the new hoses are 16" longer (each side) not easy tucking this hose away.

There were 2 different numbers on these cars, I still feel one of them was shorter originaly.

Shoot it took forever just to find the box LoL! Let me see if I can go back in time and find the add. Pretty sure the PM is gone.

I believe it was a 69 300. Sorry I just wanted a complete set so I wouldn’t have to start from scratch.

These are pictures from a setup that Matt sold in May, at first I thought it was yours till I saw the fittings, the upper hose has a straight fittings, when installed makes more since. This was said to be a 67 Imperial (hoses would have been the same as a 69 C-Body.

I guess it’s a 1970. Might be different than 1969 but it’ll work fine for what I’m doing. Let me know if you find a source for the pins and cotter pins. That’s all I need to install my stuff. Thanks ed

In 70 they used the same hose for top and bottom, it was the same as the lower hose in earlier years.
This will work for you.

Well I hope some of that helped. My biggest worry was routing the hoses correct into the pump. I didn’t want to hit up and go down or visa versa. I’ll probably swap out the old lines. My car came with a hose kit but without instructions it made zero sense to me. Good luck getting it all sorted out.

PS: the hoses in my kit are a mile long too.
