I just completed a 1966 F100 short wheel base (frame off...won't do that again). For my next project I wanted a Mopar. So, a 1966 Plymouth came up on Craig's list about 30 miles from me and I bought it. I know zero about Mopar's and it turns out this is a "C" body and very hard to find parts for this model (but I like a challenge). That is the back story.
Now, the reason for the post. I would like some help decoding the tags.
thanks

2 door Sport Fury or VIP, 383, charcoal over black bench seat interior. How about some pics of the whole car?

Thanks for the very fast replies. I was told it was a 383 by the seller, but he (like me) didn't know a 383 for a 400. It turns to be a 400. My mechanic only took one look and it is a 400. So here is what we are doing:it is a 4 barrel, rework heads/valve seats, a more agressive cam and duals. I think headers are too much money for a few hp.

Man, I just LOVE that 8-track deck! Just shove a matchbook into it, to keep it from cross-tracking . . . I wouldn't change a thing!

Pictures of the engine compartment?

Someone must have gone through some trouble to swap out the 383.

Right now the engine pic would just be the open block showing the pistons.
The 390 FE big block pistons looked big, but the 400 pistons are bigger.

A 400 is basically a bored-out 383, but with a different block casting to support such. Both are "B"/low-deck blocks (413-440-426 are "tall deck"/RB blocks).

I suspect that most Plymouth VIPs were 4-drs, with very few 2-dr hardtops built?

Keep us posted on your progress,
