My grille is spot welded to the trim /frame piece. I have a piece of material I can cut to fit the opening, but has anyone done this and how did you remount it?
Thanks.

I bc went down to the local Metal Supermarket, picked up some plating with holes. Quite a bit thicker than the factory. Cut and grind it to same size. Did lose the fastening points removing the old one. The faceplate has a slight bevel so bent to match, cleaned amd and painted and installed with JB weld type product. Applied sparingly in case needed to be removed again. Applied clear coat and speaker and done. Probably get kicked around for not being a purist but that was a weak spine in the engineering side.

If you carefully grind off the heads of the mount studs you will be left with a short "stud" to locate and epoxy your new grille to.

Needs just a bit more epoxy but looks real good!

The question begs to be asked, was there a plate behind the screen on non rear speaker equipped seat backs?

An unexpected source yielded the material needed for the rear card board panel, and was free to boot!
The material is used to cover certain types of plywood while skidded and is the exact thickness and density.

A 4x8 sheet will do several pieces, so I think building a few more would be a great retirement project.

Hey, thanks Al
I just haven’t hade time.
We are entering our slow time so I will put it on the list.
Your car sure is looking great!

New back cover ready for paint.
Weights are on there to "warp" the board a little.
