valve stem issue? I intend to use if for a 65 Chrysler wagon. Thanks for advice

Run it and get it real warm. While it’s running Gather all your tools and supplies to change the oil. Then change the oil right after you **** it off, let it drain a while, 20 minutes. Run it some more with new oil. This will help it immensely.

For those that like to argue, we have no idea what the oil is, what additives are in it, how old it is, where this car was stored or how much moisture is in the oil. So put in new oil and filter.

Your exhaust is neither of the things you mentioned. White is steam from moisture. The gray could be the moisture removing soot and carbon from loading up or extended idling. Blue is oil and you have no blue which is good.

It could have a blown head gasket too. A short video of it smoking would help diagnose your problem. Good Luck

The only thing I would add to 413's excellent advice, is to make sure you do the oil change with Penn Grade 15W-40 or another high zinc oil. It has a high ZDDP additive package that is needed in an engine with a flat-tappet cam. Also, install a WIX or NAPA Gold filter too.

On a already broken in motor that you have no idea on the condition of the internals? I wouldn't waste any money on high quality oils that you'll never get your money out of if the motors trashed. Just throw a can of STP in instead. But DO use a quality filter. JMHO Good Luck

Do use a clean drain pan so you can examine the oil and what comes out of the engine.
I don’t think the oil matters very much. Often when I do this I drain the oil out of one of my good cars that needs a change and use the oil to pour in a used engine like this situation.

If you suspect that the head gaskets may be leaking, Autozone and most other parts houses have a hydrocarbon test kit that your can borrow or purchase. When head gaskets leak, combustion gases are deposited in the coolant and the test kit will verify this if that is the case. There is also an oil test that will reveal the presence of antifreeze in the engine oil. A green color on any of the spark plugs is another indicator of a coolant leak in the combustion area of the engine.
