what would you call this type of shift knob that has a rectangular slot and is held in place with a set screw?

Trying to find an aftermarket one but they all are the threaded type or round with set screws and not for rectangular shift levers.

I'd call it a 65 Mopar console shift knob. :poke: I know, not much help, but that's the only place I've seen one and never any aftermarket that I've heard of.

FWIW . . . they were used in 64 as well. They also came in a variety of colors - I know I have seen a metallic red, metallic blue, and I think a non-metallic saddle tan. No one repro that I know of, you'll find them from time-to-time at shows and swap meets. The common problem is that the screw strips out. I'd assume that you could fill the hole in with epoxy, and then re-tap it - but never tried it. Will defer to someone who may have more experience in working with these materials . . .

This one absolutely reeks, like when a rubberized coated tool gets exposed to chemicals and starts to degrade.

This type of shift knob attachment must not be generic then, and instead specific to some of the chryslers of this era. Well, I can just modify the lever to be universal.

Used also on Dodge trucks & motor homes with the automatic. To 68 I think.

Another source to pull from while you look.

Would be interested in how you do this - would be nice to be able to use some of the "universal" screw-on knobs that are out there. Post a few pictures please!

Here's a few pics of the adapter I designed. I had a friend print it on his 3d printer. Fits perfectly, accepts any ball shift knob with an m8x1.25 thread. Needs to be painted yet, or not. I kind of like the raw translucent color of it.
