Hi everyone,

most of you won’t know me, as I’m rarely posting on this forum (see my initial introduction here).

Now I thought it’s time to finally introduce my 1971 Chrysler 300. I noticed that as of today, exactly one year ago the car arrived here in Austria. I bought it from the very well known Fuselage enthusiast Steve, and I couldn‘t be happier with the car thanks to the exceptional care of the car by Steve!

Getting the car registered here took forever, as our 1st lockdown was starting literally on the day the big federal inspection was planned (over here this big inspection is required when you register a car for the first time in the country). So overall it took like 5 months instead of a few weeks until I could put the plates on.

And since July 2020 I am enjoying the car as much as possible - Much more than I had enjoyed my previous 68 Charger (which I sold a couple years ago after owning it for 11 years). I especially enjoy the countryside trips, as it glides so well down the highways. It has a VERY healthy standard 440 that was freshly rebuilt to stock specs just before I bought it... So much low end torque always makes me smile like a child!!

The history of the 300 is quite unspectular: There was some bodywork restauration & full repaint done sometime in the 80s, then it sat for years. Later Steve bought it and completed the mechanical restauration with perfect attention to detail to achieve an all original appearance. Of course the car is kept that way, as the really cool cars don't need any modifications ;-)

The options are pretty much bread and butter style, but exactly what I consider mandatory: Power brakes, Power steering and a working A/C.

But enough talking now, here are some pictures from the 2020 season, hope you like them:

In Austria we currently have winter with crazy amounts of salt on the roads, so the car will stay in hibernation until this will be over in maybe 2 months or so.

I can't wait to get this view again!

Welcome back Roger, beautiful '69! Glad you got to enjoy it this year, once you were able to get it registered.

Great looking car! Fuselage cars in darker metallic colors usually look great as the darker color and metallic content accent the great body lines of those cars.

That first and second shots, considering that Goodyear was Chrysler's primary tire supplier back then, are very appropriate. Great pictures!

Enjoy!

Beautiful car.

Well said, couldn't have said it better myself.

That's an awesome ride, I love the tail end sticking out way past the A body's, shows how massive these cars are. Enjoy the kilometers!

Stunning Art Direction on the shot framing B7 300 from a previous generation ‘fast top’ or early Barracuda . . . BRAVO Roger!

Thank you for sharing the photos with us Roger and so glad you have been able to drive and enjoy it for at least a short while now - and with working a/c!

I am so pleased that you bought the car as you are a perfect owner for it in my view. I also appreciate that you flew to Arizona on a business trip and after your meeting, you came to my residence in California to actually inspect and drive it before you bought it to be sure it was what you wanted.

Your 300 left me feeling a little empty seeing it depart for the last time but that was moderated since I knew it was going to the best home possible to a great owner.

I am sure you will continue to enjoy it for many years. I know I surely would enjoy driving your 300 much more than the Charger, as I feel the same way about my 69 Charger RT/SE - the Chrysler is just an excellent road car.

Enjoy!
Steve

Thanks for the kind words! In fact that wasn't planed at all, it was just a spontaneous idea that turned out well.
Your assessment is impressive, it is a '65 Barracuda. Here is a shot from the same arrangement:

Thanks for sharing these gorgeous pictures with us Roger!
Congratulation to this great purchase

The pictures from Michaels and Marvins A-bodys let me remember of the Mopar Nats at Herten where I met both. A really Mopar-infected family from Vienna. Many greatings if you meet them...

Am I imagining things or are '69-71 C's, especially Chryslers, really popular with European collectors? Just seems to be a trend I noticed, perhaps biased by this board. Not a bad choice, they're great open road cars.

Yes, they are............and there are very few left to go around that don't need a lot of restoration. The Europeans like the ones that are already nice because of their constraints of being in another nation where mechanical knowledge of these cars is dwindling and finding good used or even new parts is much more of a challenge than residing in the U.S. But they are very passionate about the fuselage models especially, including Dodges and Plymouths.

Chrysler's Forward Look models are also hot ticket items in Europe, especially in Sweden. Those are so popular over there, that we in the U.S. with those cars are buying restoration parts made in Sweden to keep ours nice.

That's the other thing I forgot, they all seem to be super nice, not a turd to be found.
