Hello Community,
i have a question, and i‘m pretty new in this topic. I‘m about to buy me a 1968 plymouth fury. I like the style/form of the car, but i like a bit more the form of the grill of the 67 model.. do you know if this grill will fit as well on the 68 model or if it probably could, with little adjustments please?
And maybe a second question, what muffler do you prefer/recommend for a nice deep waffling sound (I do not like such „raspy/shredded“ sounds). p.s. I think about a Flowmaster 44?! ..sorry for my english :) hope you will not curse on me, that i think about this „crossover“ 67/68 on the front grill?!

Welcome!
I believe that the 67 and 68 grills are interchangeable, but others will clarify.
Regarding mufflers, I prefer the Magnaflow turbo mufflers.
There are a lot of muffler choices, I would recommend you do a little research online.

I have Borla XP's on my 68 sport fury and love them. They are unbaffled mufflers but they have a nice deep sound...not raspy at all. I did use some vibrant resonators with them to reduce drone at 1600 RPM.

Thanks, and on mufflers: yes I watched a lot of youtube clips on that, but its hard to judge when ppl are recording with handy etc .. and every car sounds different, thats why i thought it is worth to ask here directly in the community ppl who own/know these car models. Thanks.

  • The 67 grille is a 1 piece grille vs the 68 which is 2 the grille and the mesh screen under the grille. The 67 headlight bezels are different the outside area next to the headlight is serrated and painted black, the 68 bezels are smooth in that area and painted argent colored. The 68 bezels also overlap to the grille and the mesh panel. Top pic is 67 front end bottom. is 68. The hood trim is the same on both years. Not sure if all the attaching points are the same between the two styles. View attachment 410589

thanks for your feedback.. yes, the grill+ headlight pieces look different in format if i look at the pieces individually, i just saw someone offering all the part (picture) and as the outer format around the grill of the car is the same, i could imagine if i change all the parts that are shown in the picture, this will fit into the front .. probably the holders&brackets are not 100% the same, but manageable somehow?
